If you didn’t know a little thing occurred this weekend, Disneyland opened up the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! While we covered that pretty extensively over the past few days, there’s still a whole bunch of other goings on at the Happiest Place on Earth.
In this weekend’s completely separate second pictorial, we’ll take you beyond Batuu and all around the Resort where progress continues on the new Pixar Pier enhancements, the new Inside Out: Emotional Whirlwind, finishing touches on the Pixar Pals Parking Structure, the new Marvel-themed Land, and a bunch more.
Of course, a nice merch run waits for you at the end (warning, there’s lots of Star Wars in there) plus so much more in this latest park pictorial. ENJOY!

Have Your Own Reservation?

Below are the details on what to bring, how to check in and how to enter the land.

Around Batuu
Below are some of the pictures from inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge that didn’t quite make sense in any of the SWGE GUIDE pages above!
Even the trashcans have a Batuu look!
They were giving specially printed maps on opening day.
Marvel-Themed Land
The new Spider-Man attraction continues to see rapid vertical construction.
Pixar Pals Parking Structure
Although the new parking structure didn’t make it in time for this weekend’s grand opening, Disney is making every intention of having it ready by June 24 when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens up for non-reservation guests.
With the new structure looking so bright and pretty it really highlights how badly Mickey and Friends is in need of a refresher.
Demolition has started on the old sidewalk that used to lead to Downtown Disney (left photo) meanwhile a brand new sidewalk was added across the street so that guests can still get to Downtown Disney from Mickey and Friends.
There will no longer be a sidewalk on the Mickey and Friends side of the street but the goal is to have guests walking to the Resort take a new sky bridge and completely bypass street traffic.
You can see the new bridge will extend from the second level of the Pixar Pals parking structure.
The bridge will cross over the street and connect to the Downtown Disney parking lot.
Hard to see but the bridge descends immediately after crossing over the street. It seems likely that security screening for these guests will happen at the Downtown Disney checkpoint.
Around Disney California Adventure
New designs for park tickets.
Friday was the last day for SOARIN’ AROUND THE WORLD as it takes a 30-day hiatus for the month of June for the return of SOARIN’ OVER CALIFORNIA. Nice work, pal!

INSIDE OUT: EMOTIONAL WHIRLWIND continues through testing as new thematic elements arrive
The control panel for the ride looks just like the one in the movie.
New railings still TBD.
It seems the oversized Zurg fun meal toy may have been permanently removed.
The drumsticks we received on Friday were much much larger than the ones we got when the location first opened…
Around Disneyland
Although Disney has yet to actually confirm that the #Mickey90 celebration has ended, the characters have stopped wearing the commemorative outfits on Main Street, the special menus were ended on May 27, and Mickey’s Mix Magic ends on June 6. The costumes, menus, and shows were the main elements of the celebration so it’s odd to continue insisting that the promotion has not yet ended.
The lettering on the mural is still not completed on Main Street, what a joy seeing this coming along!
Crowds were light on Friday as marketing seems to have been effective to encourage people who DON’T have reservations to stay away from the Resort.
Benches were used to block off Tour Guide Gardens in the morning.
The piano has returned to the outside patio for the Refreshment Corner.
The Central Plaza info podium seems to have permanently moved to the eastern side of Main Street freeing up even more space in front of Adventureland.
The new digital wait board has info on two sides and looks great.
Figaro’s extended nap continues.
Those tiny flecks in the water are some VERY late bloomers. Baby ducks in the moat. So perfect.
The Herb Ryman Tree. It’s playful Disney genus is Artisticus and species is Rymanus.
Standby lines have returned to Tiki Juice Bar, the lanai side is still Mobile Order only.
A sign has finally appeared on the Alien Pizza Planet but it’s still missing its trademark green proprietors.
The lighting seemed a lot more red in the finale scene of the Haunted Mansion.
The extended dining patio for the Hungry Bear Restaurant has received its new shades.
How cute is this new sign for the Hungry Bear Restaurant?? It’s at the back side of the restaurant along the pathway leading into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Watermelon Julep is that latest Disneyland concoction to tempt the palate. Enjoy one from the Mint Julep Bar with some beignets. It’s delicious and refreshing. Perfect for summer!
The Disneyland Railroad map has been updated to reflect Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Entering Galaxy’s Edge
There’s no official queue for entering Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. You must first check-in at Star Wars: Launch Bay (up to 2-hours before) and then head back no earlier than your reservation time to gain entrance into the land. With that said, while there’s no line, people with wristbands have essentially been huddling at the assigned entrance point. As the walkways become unbearably crowded, Disney slowly moves the line forward in segments. We moved ahead 2 or 3 times to chorale just outside the land before the reservation window starts.
I really wish they were dressed as Stormtroopers!

Sleeping Beauty Castle looking stunning at night with its new paint job. The lighting basically illuminates the castle the same as it did before.
Around the Resort
The lighting was noticeably brighter in the Esplanade when we left after park closing which I thought was a great change (it always seems so unnecessarily dark over here) but I quickly realized that this was probably the work-lighting for third-shift.
New banners in Downtown Disney.
The marketing to advise guests without reservations really made a big difference to make for a pleasant arrival experience to the Happiest Place on Earth!
Still no word on the shuttered Rainforest Cafe and AMC Theater locations.
Starbucks West has an outside Mobile Order kiosk.
Merch Run
How cool is the (heavy) metal gift card sold only in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge? The minimum pre-load amount is $100. It’s reloadable and can be used anywhere Disney Gift Cards are accepted.
World of Disney had a bunch of merchandise celebrating the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
A small selection of items was available at Elais & Co. at Disney California Adventure.
The Harvey’s Americana Headband from the Disney Parks Designer Collection can be yours for $78, designed by Dana Harvey & Melanie Harvey.
Star Wars Launch Bay also had a bunch of merchandise available.
New Kate Spade bags are adorable at the Disney Dress Shop.

Flexible?
In the ever-evolving world of Disney ticket levels, packages, and options the Disneyland Resort has added a new Annual Pass to the lineup: Disney Flex Passport. Priced at $599, this pass is different than the one you might have in your wallet today as it introduces a reservation system that effectively guarantees your visit (and potentially limits how many times you can come) with a flexible new system. It is available now for purchase.
