As with any self-respecting locale in the universe, the Black Spire Outpost on Batuu in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is filled with helper droids of all sorts and at the Droid Depot you’re sure to find the astromech to fit your needs, even if that means you have to build it yourself!
Located on the outskirts of the village near the middle of the land, this shop offers a wide range of everything relating to the building and upkeep of droids. Find model kits, pre-made and premium droids as well as a collection of unique, upcycled objects crafted from scrap parts. For the perfect sidekick, build your own completely custom droid!
- Standard Annual Pass discounts are available at this location. (No discounts and no returns on custom-built droids.)
Batuuan Spira
If you’re looking to make your visit to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge as authentic as possible, you can opt for this Droid Depot exclusive BSO (Black Spire Outpost) medallion coin that is actually a Disney Gift Card.
The coin is technically free but requires a minimum $100 activation. However, what’s great about this is that it’s valid anywhere Disney Gift Cards are accepted in the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico AND it’s re-loadable.
Build Your Own Droid
There’s two steps and two options. First, find a shop clerk and register your choice of the BB-series unit or R-series. Once you receive your blueprints and parts basket, you’ll proceed to two different stations to complete your droid-building experience.
This experience is subject to availability and reservations may be required. The experience area is limited to the builder and one Guest—at least one person in the party must be age 14 or older.
Assembling Your Custom Astromech

Build Station
Here you’ll follow simple “placemat” instructions or graphic monitor displays to assemble your droid in the proper sequence. Once complete, your droid will be paired with a remote control and activated as you watch it come to life!
This isn’t just any old toy that you’re building here. These droids use Bluetooth® technology to communicate with other astromech droid units as well as certain other elements and objects on Batuu and at Disney Parks.
Need More Customization?
Various personality-affiliation chips and other accessories are available for an additional charge.
Pricing
There’s just one price for building a base droid.
