It’s quite an odd conundrum that the Disneyland Resort is currently in its off season which means several attractions and areas are closed for refurbishment — including Disneyland’s centerpiece, Sleeping Beauty Castle. Still, despite the off-season, Disney is also in the middle of THREE new separate coinciding celebrations with the GET YOUR EARS ON main celebration (Resort wide), a Valentine’s Month mini celebration (at Disneyland), and a Lunar New Celebration (at Disney California Adventure).
We’ll take you all around the Happiest Place on Earth for a look at all the goings-on, not the least of which is construction on the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, a new parking structure, and new features in Downtown Disney!
So much to look at so jump in now and don’t miss out on a jam-packed Merch Run at the end with a ton of goodies to drain your wallets. All of that and more in our latest park pictorial. ENJOY!

New Nighttime Spectacle
In celebration of the 90th Anniversary of Mickey, Disneyland has debuted a brand new projection show that, on select nights, will also feature fireworks: Mickey’s Mix Magic. The new nighttime spectacle is touted as a high-energy dance party in the park and on weekends and peak days will also be supplemented with fireworks — weather permitting.

Project Stardust
For several months now, if you’ve been checking out the MouseInfo pictorial updates, you’ve seen Disneyland make several small changes around the parks including making walkways wider, planter areas smaller, and increasing queue capacity space. It turns out these small scale projects are actually part of a large scale project that Disney has internally branded Project Stardust!
Off Season Downtime
The Haunted Mansion is back in action following removal of its Holiday layover.
Meanwhile, “it’s a small world” Holiday runs well into January before it goes down for removal.
Repairs and cosmetic enhancements are underway at Sleeping Beauty Castle which are reported to include a new roof, paintjob, and other cosmetic enhancements.
The Holiday Shoppe is still open despite being behind scaffolding.
Astro Orbitor is being disassembled for a thorough refurbishment. It will be returning this year.
Looks like the queue area is also being re-done.
Mark Twain and Sailing Ship Columbia are still running even though the loading dock is under refurbishment. Will it get benches like its Walt Disney World counterpart?
French Market also remains open while its exterior refurbishment goes on. Meanwhile, on Main Street, curb re-slopping is eliminating curbs to make wheel traffic easier.
Around Disneyland
A little snow in the mountains.
Purple Rose (blueberry) and Red Rose (cherry) at Red Rose Taverne.
Potion Purple in effect.
A little rusty.
Mixed Recycling.
It looks like taller hedges that intentionally blocked the fireworks views at Plaza Inn are making way for shorter hedges. Could fireworks dining or dessert packages be coming to Plaza Inn?
Have you visited Esmeralda through the Disney Play app? You can get a free chaptered set of story cards when you visit her booth and simultaneously open up the Disney Play app.
You can’t get to Fantasyland through the castle while it’s under refurbishment. You can still access Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique through the side entrance, though.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Explore Early?
The public won’t get their chance to explore Galaxy’s Edge until June when the new land opens at Disneyland (and then again later in the year a clone of the land opens in Walt Disney World) but Marvel is ready to take you to the planet of Batuu — and specifically the Black Spire Outpost — well ahead of the park expansion via a new comic book series!

Pixar Pier
Pixar Pier is decidedly far from finished despite grand opening last summer. More work continues on the land…
The Lamplight Lounge once again has scaffolding on its facade.
Still no word on the return of World of Color.
Scaffolding is back up on Jessie’s Critter Carousel, it seems a later winter opening might not be out of the question although no official date has yet been given.
INSIDE OUT: EMOTIONAL WHIRLWIND has a new base.
Looks like Pixar Pier’s patchwork of flooring is finally getting addressed and unified.
Around Disney California Adventure
Although DCA is largely not celebrating Valentine’s Day this year, the shop windows are still neat and pretty for the holiday.
Nearly all traces of “a bug’s land” appear to be gone.
Grizzly River Run is down for some off-season refurbishment.
Around the Resort
Downtown Disney is decidedly more floral.
Ballast Point is finally open at Downtown Disney.
Black Tap is moving along for an opening soonish.
Still no visible progress on ESPN Zone, Rainforest Cafe, or the AMC Theatre.
The Downtown Disney walkway from Mickey and Friends got some new bushes to replace the dirt that replaced the grass after this walkway started to see more foot traffic the past few months.
Lots going on on the Eastern Esplanade area.
New Parking
Moving quickly along, the new parking structure is shooting for an opening prior to this June when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is expected to open.
The new skybridge is still not extending over Magic Way.

Super Blood Wolf Moon
Sounding more like a bad B-movie, the Super Blood Wolf Moon was visible from inside Disneyland earlier this week causing many to scan the sky through the cloud cover to get a look at the rare sight!
