Labor Day traditionally ends the summer season at the Disneyland Resort and in just four short days, Disney Halloween Time will welcome guests back with attraction layovers, decorations, treats, and more. But aside from spooktacular festivities, there’s a whole lot going on at Disneyland Resort, a lot of which we’ve been following along all summer.
We’ll take a stop in this pictorial at the construction sites for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge; the new parking structure at Mickey and Friends; and Downtown Disney and its myriad of new shops.
Plus, we’ll take a look at on-going projects in the park including refurbishments of Matterhorn, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, and the layover of Haunted Mansion into the Haunted Mansion Holiday. We’ll also say good bye to Pixar Fest AND a bug’s land.
Plus, we’ll have a nice merch run for you with even more Halloween goodies plus much, much more! ENJOY!

Around Disney California Adventure
The Disneyland Resort is gearing up for Disney’s Halloween Time and that means this week will see a flurry of Halloween decorations spring up all around the park. The entrance for DCA is currently getting a piece by piece update.
Disney’s Halloween Time might be kicking off on Friday but we’ve still got quite a ways to go until Halloween!
The window displays on Buena Vista Street have received their holiday layovers.
Love this popcorn tin design!
The Disney Animation facade continues to be refurbished.
It’s still open.
World of Color continues along on its longer-than-expected refurbishment.
Jessie’s Critter Carousel is boasting some pretty bright colors.
Farwell, “a bug’s land”
This is the final weekend of operation for “a bug’s land“. It will be razed to make way for upcoming Marvel expansion.

Around Disneyland
Haunted Mansion Holiday reopens officially on Friday although in years past it has soft opened a day or two early!
Disney twenty-three broke the news in their fall issue that the real gingerbread house this year will be literally ripped from its foundations as a giant gingerbread spider suspended from the rafters takes the prized treat for its own.
The spider will have glowing eyes, movable mandibles and a candy stained-glass thorax; in total it will measure approximately three feet tall with the house below pushing an additional three feet in height. Upwards of 200-500 pounds of gingerbread are baked each year to make the edible confections.
Meanwhile, walls remain up for what we expect to be more walkway-widening initiatives in anticipation of next year’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opening.
Still love this Remy spoon straw!
Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room remains closed though October 3.
The attraction is getting some much needed TLC and a new wheelchair ramp.
Dole Whip has been added to Mobile Order! For now, the southern side of the Tiki Juice Bar is only available for Mobile Order pickup which means the line on the north-side is the only place for “standby”. We didn’t get a chance to mobile order our Dole Whip yet but from what we’ve seen it seems to go just as smoothly here as it does at the other locations in the park.

Tropical Hideaway is still slowly finding itself.
Disney teased some of the new menu items that guest can expect to encounter once the magical new lounge area opens.

The new mural in Tomorrowland has yet to be placed.
Walls remain up around what we expect to be more walkway-widening.
Walls remain up on Disney Clothiers, Magic Shop, and other facades on Main Street.
Matterhorn remains closed for refurbishment.
There are many means of transportation along Main Street, USA.
This one with the Dapper Dans on a bicycle built for four, is not one of those means!
We opted instead to ride with Reggie — a Disney Weddings horse — on the Horsedrawn Streetcar!
Around the Resort
Work continues at breakneck pace to bring the new parking structure to fruition at the Mickey and Friends parking structure.
You can see here the two bridges (here in the foreground and way in the back) which will connect existing Daisy lot with the other structure.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Downtown Disney
The relationship between the Disneyland Resort and the city of Anaheim continues to be a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. Still no visual progress on construction for the hotel or the reopening of the shuttered locations. Although, we did learn last week that job postings (which have seen been removed) from Indeed indicated that Earl of Sandwich may be returning to operation.

While we don’t know what will become of the currently shuttered locations, we do know there’s still plenty going on in Downtown Disney…
Blackcraft and Ballast Point will be opening in Downtown Disney hopefully before year’s end.
Wetzel’s Pretzels, which will return this year, has been completely gutted.
Salt & Straw is also looking quite open-air at the moment.
Napolini is also quite breezy, at the moment.
Naples remains open while its front-side and backside are being redone.
Sprinkles got its neon sign back.
New proposition 65 compliance signage at Mickey and Friends sets quite the welcome!
Merch Run
With Halloween Time around the corner that means we’ll see a lot more Haunted Mansion merch. Passholder exclusive merch includes this new tee and tank that are already on sale and this now-sold-out serving tray below.
Mansion Plush.
Dole Whip purse for your Dole Whip dress. This is not available on Mobile Order. 😉

Retro Family Fun!
MouseInfo has been partnered with the Howard Johnson Anaheim for quite some time and when we were invited to come check out the new rooms we were pleased to jump at the chance to take a look inside. The new rooms in the Building 1 Tower were welcomed in just a few weeks ago and feature an impressive makeover that updates accommodations to meet the more modern needs of today’s families.
