MouseInfo has been partnered with the Howard Johnson Anaheim for quite some time and when we were invited to come check out the new rooms we were pleased to jump at the chance to take a look inside. The new rooms in the Building 1 Tower were welcomed in just a few weeks ago and feature an impressive makeover that updates accommodations to meet the more modern needs of today’s families.
The renovation marks the completion of an $8 million top-to-bottom renovation of all 111 guest rooms in Building 1 Tower. Other upgrades include new WiFi access points in every room, new Enseo TV entertainment systems with Netflix and Pandora, a new dedicated space for in-room family dining, and even more storage areas.

The beds have always been a strong selling point at the HOJO, always offering us a comfy cloud-like slumber! I will say I love the accent pillow with the blue and white pattern although the vinyl sort of texture was admittedly a little strange!
The fact that there’s a desk AND a dining area in these room is also a noteworthy call-out. So often we find rooms either have a desk or a dining area but not both.
Kitchenette
For lack of a better word, the “kitchenette” in each room contains a microwave, Keurig coffee maker, and new, bigger, refrigerators. One of our favorite new additions is the paper cups which are printed with a retro design inspired by cups from the early days of the hotel circa 1965.
Bathroom
Probably one of the nicest upgrades of the whole project are the bathrooms. Beautiful subway tiles accent the roomy space which boasts dual sinks with storage underneath and a big mirror with perimeter lighting.
Room Features
One thing that’s noticeable in the new rooms is the plugs! Both AC and USB ready for all your device charging needs. New iHome clocks on the bed stand featuring an additional USB port. The closets feature a safe and include an ironing board with iron.
Artwork
Even the artwork is upgraded in each room featuring great Disney nods and rubber duckies!

The hallways also feature a fresh new look continuing the beachy blue and white theme found in the rooms plus new plush carpet. The lobby area downstairs was also updated with a fresh new look.
Of course, one of the best features of staying at the HOJO is its proximity to Disneyland and the fact that several rooms throughout the property offer fireworks views. Our absolute favorite feature though is that HOJO Anaheim is also one of the few properties that offers a hot tub (in the Castaway Cove water play area) with view of the fireworks. Sit in a hot-tub and enjoy the fireworks. What??
