As Spring Break 2019 becomes a distant memory, the Disneyland Resort now looks ahead to what promises to be a juggernaut summer that brings a Galaxy far, far away right into the backyard of the Happiest Place on Earth. Gloomy mornings ahead of sunny days have been the norm the past few weeks — June Gloom quite a bit early this year.
In today’s pictorial update we’ll take a look at several Project Stardust initiatives on-going around the Resort which aim to widen walkways and help enhance the parks for the crush of crowds coming for droids and lightsabers. As part of the anticipation for those crowds, Disney California Adventure welcomed a “new” attraction with the arrival of Mickey’s PhilharMagic 4D show. Aside from that, Pixar Pier continues to see enhancements with the rebuilding of Silly Symphony Swings and the upcoming Inside Out: Emotional Whirlwind.
Meanwhile, Disneyland proper sees refurbishments wrapping up and new ones beginning including the revamping of Red Rockett’s Pizza Port into what seems to be a permanent replacement as Alien Pizza Planet. We’ll also check in on Downtown Disney which will soon be welcoming guests into the new Black Tap restaurant (which will have a dedicated walk-up window for their CrazyShakes) and also look in on Pixar Pals Parking Structure. A merch run at the end will round us out plus much more in this latest park pictorial. ENJOY!
Pop-Up Disney!
We had the opportunity as guests of a Disney Parks Blog event to check out Pop-up Disney! A Mickey Celebration at Downtown Disney. On our voyage into the former ESPN Zone, we found a delightful and bright space ripe with literally countless photographic opportunities.

Mickey’s PhilharMagic
Mickey’s PhilharMagic has come to the Disneyland Resort. Taking over the Sunset Showcase Theater at Disney California Adventure, this Walt Disney World transplant brings a familiar musical whimsy with Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, and a host of Disney characters taking us on a musical adventure.

SERV-ICE
SERV-ICE is open and ready to serve… ice! Well, icy drinks, more specifically! Located just to the right of the Radiator Springs Racers attraction, the new vending location in Cars Land brings slushy refreshment with fancy new concoctions to “add a spark to your cool.”
Shown here are the World Grand Freeze, Red’s 4 Alarm Fire, and Dinoco Blue. Each is $5.99. Here’s a look at the full menu:
The vending location takes up a very small portion of the gift shop.
Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge
The in-park views of the land haven’t changed much considering that in just over a month the land will be welcoming its first guests!

Free buttons were given out in celebration of AVENGERS: ENDGAME.
The AVENGERS logo has replaced the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo on the airplane hangar for the Captain Marvel meet and great.
Looks like the Fonz lunchbox has made it into the Captain Marvel meet and greet.
The Summer of Heroes (yes, from two years ago) menu items were removed from the Studio Catering Co. and a wood-panel wrap was added to the truck. The Chicken Nachos and Milano slush were hidden gems here. Sad to see them gone.
The menu now features Backlot Nachos (choice of meat), Tacos (Asada, Carnitas, Chicken, or Soy Chorizo/Potato). There’s also a Pineapple Frozen Horchata to tempt the palate.
Pixar Pier remains a hotbed of activity in the Disneyland Resort even a year since the land officially opened.
The fountain near the Incredicoaster is behind walls. We suspect a planter this way comes… or maybe just a thorough scrubbing.
Major work is finally visible on the site of the Silly Symphony Swings as it moves along in its refurbishment.
Smoking restrictions go into effect after Tuesday. For now the smoking area has moved back to the Grizzly Trail.

Spring is in full bloom on Main Street, USA.
The Mad Hatter on Main Street is still behind walls. Curiouser and curiouser!
Walls are coming down around the hub in Main Street revealing smaller planters and wider walkways.
Walls are down near the Guest Services kiosk in the hub.
The Wait Board has been removed and the large podium replaced with a smaller one.
New flooring leading up to the Adventureland entrance.
Curbs have also been removed, re-sloping the sidewalks to street level.
Work left to do.
Still some walls to go.
Part of the Adventureland walkway is currently completely blocked.
No sign of… well, a sign yet for Adventureland.
Work continues on Bonanza Outfitters. We suspect the small planters here might disappear, too.
More walls have come down in Fantasyland where more planters have made way for more room for strollers and/or extended queue. Shout-out to @TristenTierney on Twitter for the head’s up!
The Fantasyland Guest Services kiosk has moved from near Dumbo entrance to near Casey Jr. entrance.
The new Runaway Railway attraction will apparently find its entrance at the current site of the Toontown Gag Factory.
Stroller restrictions go into effect after this weekend.

Looks like Alien Pizza Planet is becoming a permanent Tomorrowland mainstay if the artwork on the scaffolding is any indication.
Stormtroopers run amok.
Path of the Jedi is currently pathless. Maybe more planter removal?
The Tiki Juice Bar is now ONLY accepting Mobile Orders. If you’d prefer to go analog and stand in a line, you’ll need to head over to the Tropical Hideaway for your Dole Whip.

This is a sight you don’t see often, an artist at work creating magic that will be on display every day at Disneyland!

Fireworks Forever!
As we gear up for a busy summer with the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Disney will be bringing back fan-favorite fireworks spectacular DISNEYLAND FOREVER. The popular fireworks show will replace the current MICKEY’S MIX MAGIC show that kicked off in January as part of the Get Your Ears On – A Mickey and Minnie Celebration.
