Edging Closer to Star Wars
It’s no secret that the Star Was: Galaxy’s Edge expansion (or unofficially Star Wars Land for the uninitiated) will be an incredible undertaking when it lands at both Disneyland Park in Anaheim and Disney’s Hollywood Studios Park at Walt Disney World and now we have more info (thanks to the fabulous D23) than ever before about the impressive new undertaking opening as early as this summer in California and later this year in Florida!
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Construction
The public won’t get their chance to explore Galaxy’s Edge until June when the new land opens at Disneyland (and then again later in the year a clone of the land opens in Walt Disney World) but Marvel is ready to take you to the planet of Batuu — and specifically the Black Spire.
The foodie-fan-favorite Disney California Adventure Good & Wine Festival has returned to the Disneyland Resort and it brings with it once again a tantalizing array of tastes celebrating the diverse color and flavor of the state of California. Fresh tastes abound this year and we’ve got your first look at what you can expect to enjoy from the Festival Marketplaces in 2019. BON APPETIT!
Food and Wine
It can be overwhelming to try and process all the things to see, do, eat, and drink during Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival so that’s why we’ve assembled this handy guide to help you find your way through it all!
Dumbo Takes Flight
You can now see an elephant take to the sky somewhere else at Disneyland… on Main Street! A new DUMBO debuted this weekend at Disneyland’s Main Street Opera House. The preview brings with it some costumes, concept art, and a life-size replica of Dumbo that is ready to up your selfie game.
Jessie’s quite large and in charge.
Still no critters.
Mural was uncovered.
INSIDE OUT: EMOTIONAL WHIRLWIND is moving along although no opening date has yet been given.
Around Disney California Adventure
Looks like S.H.I.E.L.D. is getting ready for the arrival of Captain Marvel. Her film opens in theaters March 8, 2019.
Photo-op is back!
Despite the rain, Grizzly River Run is still in a drought as the attraction undergoes refurbishment.
Can’t remember what was here but it’s gone in Hollywood Land.
Creation Station is a new addition to the Blue Sky Cellar offering a scavenger hunt. We didn’t have a chance to partake so we’re not sure what the prize is for finishing.
It seems that most all traces (except for the tissue box restrooms) have been removed from “a bug’s land” to make way for the new Marvel-themed land.
Walls remain around this planter on Main Street.
Walls are down in front of Disney Showcase revealing the removal of the curbs on this vital walkway.
Castle remains behind tarps.
Astro Orbitor is being rebuilt as part of its refurbishment.
Space Mountain is under refurbishment. Wonder if there’s any — ROCKIN’ — enhancements under way…
Flux Capacitor is still under refurbishment on the Disneyland Railroad so visits to the Primeval World are unavailable.
French Market exterior refurbishment continues.
Mardi Gras decor.
Sailing Ship Columbia is looking seaworthy again. She returns to service March 8 along with the return of Fantasmic!
Some work up by the planters. Probably just repainting.
Flag poles are back at the loading dock for the Mark Twain / Columbia.
It’s a good, good, good, good time in Mickey’s Toon Town.
No popcorn in Critter Country. Can we get honey popcorn, please?
Around the Resort
Looks like the pavers are in place at the foot of each escalator well.
Blue, red, and green.
Mickey things going on inside.
Still no visible signs of progress on Black Tap.

WORLD OF COLOR is back! There’s not any noticeable changes to the show or its format, at least not that we could tell from our seats at the Lamplight Lounge. From very start to the point that last orange fountain does a final bow, the whole experience still times out at nearly 30 minutes.
Let’s do brunch?
If you’re looking for more personal face-time with the characters and you LOVE brunch, you’re in luck as Disney’s PCH Grill is bringing a brunch option to Donald Duck’s Seaside Breakfast on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays starting March 29, 2019! Catch some waves on the dance floor with Donald, Daisy and Stitch as you chow down on an all-you-care-to-enjoy brunch buffet.
Pop-Up Disney! A Mickey Celebration is coming to Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort and it promises a “whimsically immersive experience” celebrating 90 years of both Mickey and Minnie Mouse. This separately ticketed exhibit will be located near the Downtown Disney District Monorail station in the former space of ESPN Zone.
More Up-Charge Events Assemble
Disneyland After Dark continues on this year with a third event and it’s decidedly… SUPER. The new Disneyland After Dark: Heroes Assemble event at Disney California Adventure park promises an action-packed line up of experiences with entertainment, character encounters, event-themed food, merchandise and more.
