Plus construction continues on big projects like the new Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, Inside Out: Emotional Whirlwind, and Jessie’s Critter Carousel.

Edging Closer to Star Wars
It’s no secret that the Star Was: Galaxy’s Edge expansion (or unofficially Star Wars Land for the uninitiated) will be an incredible undertaking when it lands at both Disneyland Park in Anaheim and Disney’s Hollywood Studios Park at Walt Disney World and now we have more info (thanks to the fabulous D23) than ever before about the impressive new undertaking opening as early as this summer in California and later this year in Florida!

Explore Early?
The public won’t get their chance to explore Galaxy’s Edge until June when the new land opens at Disneyland (and then again later in the year a clone of the land opens in Walt Disney World) but Marvel is ready to take you to the planet of Batuu — and specifically the Black Spire.

Dumbo Takes Flight
You can now see an elephant take to the sky somewhere else at Disneyland… on Main Street! A new DUMBO debuted this weekend at Disneyland’s Main Street Opera House. The preview brings with it some costumes, concept art, and a life-size replica of Dumbo that is ready to up your selfie game.

Pixar Pier

Around Disney California Adventure
Looks like S.H.I.E.L.D. is getting ready for the arrival of Captain Marvel. Her film opens in theaters March 8, 2019.
Photo-op is back!
Despite the rain, Grizzly River Run is still in a drought as the attraction undergoes refurbishment.
Can’t remember what was here but it’s gone in Hollywood Land.
Creation Station is a new addition to the Blue Sky Cellar offering a scavenger hunt. We didn’t have a chance to partake so we’re not sure what the prize is for finishing.
It seems that most all traces (except for the tissue box restrooms) have been removed from “a bug’s land” to make way for the new Marvel-themed land.
Around Disneyland
Walls remain around this planter on Main Street.
Walls are down in front of Disney Showcase revealing the removal of the curbs on this vital walkway.
Castle remains behind tarps.
Astro Orbitor is being rebuilt as part of its refurbishment.
Space Mountain is under refurbishment. Wonder if there’s any — ROCKIN’ — enhancements under way…
Flux Capacitor is still under refurbishment on the Disneyland Railroad so visits to the Primeval World are unavailable.
French Market exterior refurbishment continues.

Sailing Ship Columbia is looking seaworthy again. She returns to service March 8 along with the return of Fantasmic!

WORLD OF COLOR is back! There’s not any noticeable changes to the show or its format, at least not that we could tell from our seats at the Lamplight Lounge. From very start to the point that last orange fountain does a final bow, the whole experience still times out at nearly 30 minutes.

Pop-Up Disney! A Mickey Celebration is coming to Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort and it promises a “whimsically immersive experience” celebrating 90 years of both Mickey and Minnie Mouse. This separately ticketed exhibit will be located near the Downtown Disney District Monorail station in the former space of ESPN Zone.

More Up-Charge Events Assemble
Disneyland After Dark continues on this year with a third event and it’s decidedly… SUPER. The new Disneyland After Dark: Heroes Assemble event at Disney California Adventure park promises an action-packed line up of experiences with entertainment, character encounters, event-themed food, merchandise and more.

New Nighttime Spectacle
In celebration of the 90th Anniversary of Mickey, Disneyland has debuted a brand new projection show that, on select nights, will also feature fireworks: Mickey’s Mix Magic. The new nighttime spectacle is touted as a high-energy dance party in the park and on weekends and peak days will also be supplemented with fireworks — weather permitting.
