The Nightmare Before Christmas is celebrating 25 years since its initial theatrical release and D23 is making a big hullabaloo with a big presence at San Diego Comic-Con this year with a special pop-up experience, a panel, and even a D23 Member Mixer. We had the chance to attend all three offerings on Saturday, June 21 and are happy to present you with your no-lines necessary front-row access! ENJOY!
Pop-Up Experience
Located at the historic Davis-Horton House was the magical Holiday Door that Jack Skellington was enticed to open and be transported to Christmas Town. There was also a “Many Faces of Jack Skellington” art display featuring uniform skulls that were transformed by artists with unique interpretations!
Disney D23 Member Mixer
Taking over the House of Blues San Diego for a few hours was a magical little gathering that included character appearances by Jack, Sally, and master of scare-emonies… OOGIE BOOGIE!
The goodie bag had some wonderful gifts inside!
Filmmaker Panel
An intriguing panel took place Saturday evening with Henry Selick (director), Anthony Scott (animator), Edie Ichioka (editor), Bill Boes (assistant art director), Kelly Asbury (art director), and moderator Neil Gaiman taking a retrospective look at the making of Tim Burton’s classic.
