If the CINDERELLA reboot this year wasn’t enough for you, you’re in luck as there’s more about the girl with the glass shoe set to be coming to the big screen once again. This time though, it’s less about the country bumpkin and more about the Prince she’d come to marry.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Matt Fogel is writer for the new princely project which aims to take a Maleficent-style approach to the fairy tale by telling the story from a different perspective.
Kenneth Branagh’s recent Cinderella reboot gave the prince a bit more of a realistic footing and backstory than previous treatments of the story but this new take aims to give him a full-fledged story about exactly how he’d come to marry the girl with the penchant for delicate footwear.
The announcement follows a long line of live-action reboots of classic animated films and spin-offs including including sequels to Maleficent and Alice in Wonderland, plus new adaptations of The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Winnie the Pooh, Dumbo, Mulan, Aladdin’s Genie, Fantasia’s Chernabog and more.
