When Disney California Adventure had its “rebirth” in 2012, there was one little spot of the park that had concept art and discussions for remaking and it was the Condor Flats area of the park. This past week, those conversations came to fruition with the unveiling of the Grizzly Peak Airfield.

The re-theme includes the adjustment of the desert airfield as a National Park airfield layered in with the air fire fighter backstory for its existence. The whole area is an extension of the Grizzly Peak themeing that already exists to the south and the west with the Grand Californian Hotel.

Other modifications to the area include the new Humphrey’s Service & Supply shop, a repainting of the restrooms, and refresh of the land’s various elements including the airplane, popcorn cart, and of course the feature attraction Soarin’ Over California! The Smokejumpers restaurant was the first new refresh to open in the land. You can check out our pictures of that here.
