What to Expect
Friends and Thanksgiving come together for a truly unforgettable morning or afternoon of Friendsgiving fun. The Friendsgiving tour is comprised of three core components:
- A 90-minute guided tour of the historic movie studio with an emphasis on the production and filming of the iconic television show
- A literal feast of all-you-can-eat Thanksgiving favorites — including turkey, ham, mash potatoes and pumpkin pie
- A self-guided tour of two exhibit spaces featuring immersive experiences and photo-ops.
You can get a quick taste of what we experienced in our video shared to social media. Before we begin the tour, there’s a special display in the lobby with actual screen-used costume and prop pieces from the show!
30th Anniversary Costume Display
Authentic costumes from the show are on display in the main lobby to begin your entire adventure. There’s also a large photo-op with the iconic picture frame from the back of Monica’s apartment door.
90-Minute Friends-Themed Studio Tour
A Warner Bros. host will be your guide all around the Studio where you’ll visit memorable filming locations from the show including Stage 24 where the show was primarily filmed. Availability of this space will depend on active production schedules but we were lucky as we got to sit in the actual risers for the soundstage while our amazingly knowledgeable tour guide, Isaiah, pointed out exactly where the sets for each apartment were located while giving other great production details and behind-the scenes insights into the television-making process.
We also explored several backlot areas including New York Street, Hennesy Street, Embassy Court and more where our guide painted the mental picture for where various iconic moments from the show were created while also sharing historical background for other things created in those same spots. We even learned that the fountain on the lot IS the original fountain from the Friends opening sequence but it was actually relocated to the studio right before the pandemic from the offsite Warner Bros. Ranch. As with most things at Warner, the fountain has quite a storied history.
We also had several trivia stops along the way and were quizzed on the show and its cast with snazzy Friends 30th anniversary buttons as the reward for guessing correctly. Remember: Princess Consuela Banana Hammock!
Friendsgiving Holiday Meal
After your guided tour has ended, you’re only about half way done with the whole experience. Not only is there plenty more to see in self-guided tours but you also get to EAT! When whether permits, Warner will actually setup tables around the iconic fountain to serve the Friendsgiving meal. If you visit on a blustery day like we did — which had a threat of rain — the operations are moved into an inside space on the lot. At either location, you’ll be able to gather some selfies on an orange couch!
The food? Surprisingly very, very good! We peeped the delivery vans for Orlando’s Motion Picture Catering nearby which we suspect supplied the meal and it was simply fantastic. Expected Thanksgiving classics were served but all with cute Friends names including:
Phoebe’s Tossed Garden Salad with mixed greens, walnuts, tomatoes, and cucumber and a balsamic vinaigrette- Rachel’s Buttery Biscuits which hands down were a hit with everyone in our group and everyone else at our table
- Ross’s Lumpy Mashed Potatoes were not quite so lumpy but still flavorful
- Phoebe’s Sauteed Garlic and Toasted Almond Green Beans were a lighter option to a traditional casserole
- Tribiani “How You Doin'” Baked Mac and Cheese was good but not as flavorful as we were hoping
- Granma Gellar’s Soyrizo Stuffing was decent but we weren’t raving about it
- Joey’s Sweet Candy Yams could have used double the amount of marshmallows for my tastes
- Monica’s Molasses Bourbon Glazed Roast Turkey was incredibly juicy and flavorful, really surprised how good this was
- Chandler’s Honey Dijon Glazed Country Ham was also absolutely exceptional.
- There was also a most incredible and surprisingly Turkey Gravy and some delicious Cranberry Sauce to complement the meal
- Pumpkin Pie with whipped cream was the finisher and a perfect kiss good by to the meal
Self-Guided Fun
We’ve shared before, in greater detail, some of the fun self-guided fun that is included with most experiences at Warner Bros. Studios Tour Hollywood. It’s broken up into two separate museum-like spaces with plenty of photo-ops and immersive experiences in the mix: “Stage 48: Script to Screen” and “Action and Magic.”
Stage 48: Script to Screen
Stage 48: Script to Screen is an immersive experience with a mix of Hollywood movie-making magic plus costumes, props, and iconic sets from beloved films and TV shows like Friends and The Big Bang Theory. You can explore behind-the-scenes processes including casting, production, sound design, and more though interactive exhibits, as well as enjoy photo and video opportunities with green screen technology. This is also where you’ll find The Friends Boutique and The Central Perk Café, where you can savor a coffee or meal (if you’re still hungry!) surrounded by detailed recreations of memorable Friends locations.
Action and Magic
Action and Magic is the grand finale for the whole experience where you can explore a space with exhibits and props from Warner Bros. classics including the DC Universe with costumes and Batmobiles on display; the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (and Fantastic Beasts) with photo-ops and experiences; Game of Thrones and more! On your way out, pay homage to the classics with one final burst of props and costume pieces from prestige classics such as Casablanca, The Music Man, and My Fair Lady.
