Oogie Boogie Bash — A Disney Halloween Party at Disney California Adventure is always a good time but the characters and the treats are a big highlight.

During the after-hours event, guests can stuff their complimentary trick-or-treat bags with sweet treats (including healthier options like apple slices, carrots, and crackers) and also come face-to-face with a whole bunch of Disney characters — many of which can only be seen during the event!

We visited this year for the 2023 Halloween Time season and are happy to share our peek at the candy and characters we enjoyed during Oogie Boogie Bash! ENJOY!

Treat Trails

The Candy

When you check in for Oogie Boogie Bash, you are given your event wristband and a handy (little) bag to hold your candy. We brought an extra backpack which served as the perfect backup to hold even more treats once our bags got full! We saw other astute treaters filling pillow cases and merch bags throughout the night.

Don’t forget to grab an event map (or check out posting below) which highlights all the Treat Trails and there’s no limit to how many times you go through each one!

The Characters

Many of the Treat Trails pack an extra special treat with character appearances but you can also find characters around the park at dedicated meet and greets. This year, new characters (who you can only see during the event) include Judge Doom from WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT, Yokai from BIG HERO 6, Lotso Huggin’ Bear from TOY STORY 3, and Prince Hans from FROZEN.

Untitled photoFavorites from last year have also returned including Ernesto de la Cruz from COCO, Bruno from ENCANTO, Mother Gothel from TANGLED, Mad Madm Mim from THE SWORD IN THE STONE, and of course, a special appearance by Minnie, Daisy, and Clarabelle dressed as the Sanderson Sisters.

And don’t forget, there’s a QR code on your event wristband which you can use to scan for complimentary PhotoPass downloads all night long!

Judge Doom is keeping to his name and dispensing terror all night long. You might even witness him take out his vengeance on a poor cartoon show just like in the film. Find him at the Grizzly Peak Airfield near Soarin’.

Lotso Huggin’ Bear is ready for big big hugs… and yes he actually does smell like strawberries. Find him near Toy Story Midway Mania.

Prince Hans is surely up to no good across the Southern Isles and now at this event. Find him in Carthay Circle along with the Peddler Woman (aka Old Hag) from SNOW WHITE, as well as Captain Hook from PETER PAN, and Sheriff of Nottingham from ROBIN HOOD.
