The 88th Annual Academy Awards were undeniably the night of MAD MAX. Despite several nominations, STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS didn’t take home any Oscars.

Still, Disney managed to take home some Oscar gold with Disney-Pixar’s INSIDE OUT, proving once again that the house of the mouse continues to show its strengths with its roster of animated features.

“Make films, draw, write. It will make a world of difference.”

–Pete Docter, INSIDE OUT

Pete Docter and Jonas Rivera accepted for INSIDE OUT giving thanks to John Lasseter and the talented animation artists who worked tirelessly on the film. Docter also took the time to encourage children to think big and pursue their dreams.

Disney also gets Oscar credits as the distributor for Dreamworks live action film BRIDGE OF SPIES which earned an additional Academy Award for Mark Rylance, Actor in a Supporting Role.

Early in the broadcast, C-3PO, R2-D2, and BB-8 took to the stage for a cute moment to call out composer John Williams. Disney fans might have also caught a few sound bytes during musical transitions for presenters with tunes including “Everybody Wants To Be A Cat” plus the main themes for “Indiana Jones” and “Star Wars”

Last year, Disney took home two awards: Animated Feature for BIG HERO 6 and Animate Short Film for FEAST. Did you watch the show this year? What did you think?
