Today at South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, Josh D’Amaro (Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman) showcased several peeks and teases into Disney’s upcoming projects in the works and in development. During the presentation titled “Creating Happiness: The Art & Science of Disney Parks Storytelling” there was a fun reveal with an actual-sized Tinker Bell character greet.

Promising to continue in the legacy of pushing boundaries of what characters can do in Disney experiences, the presentation included a behind-the-scenes look at a blue-sky concept from Disney Imagineers that lets fans have a live conversation with pixie-sized Tinker Bell. An “actual-sized” version of the character was found inside of a lantern able to respond in live-time.
It’s the latest in innovations from Disney Imagineers to bring Disney characters, both big and small, to life in new ways. The Hulk character, who debuted at the D23 Expo last year, was also on display for the audience. This unique, exoskeleton allows performers to operate large, non-human characters.
