On the official first day of operation of the Super Nintendo World expansion at Universal Studios Hollywood, there was a special dedication moment with Mr. Shigeru Miyamoto (creator of Super Mario Bros.) and Scott Strobl (Executive Vice President and General Manager, Universal Studios Hollywood). They were joined Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach to commemorate the official opening day. Letsa go!
With streamers, confetti canons, and an eager crowd of excited park guests, the new land made its official debut Friday morning. To commemorate the occasion, a special opening moment was kicked by Strobl who made a point to thank all the team members who worked to bring this new land to life and welcomed Miyamoto. Both had also been in attendance on Wednesday evening of the grand opening ceremony.
Playfully running through the green warp pipe that marks the entrance into the new land, Miyamoto welcomed the crowd to boisterous applause. Mostly in Japanese, with translation, he enthusiastically thanked the Nintendo and Universal team that worked on Super Nintendo World along with the general public.
There was also a group from Make-a-Wish visiting Super Nintendo Land on its first official day. To open the land, Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach led a countdown to welcome guests into the immersive new world.
