Fantasmic! is an unmistakable hallmark of the Disneyland experience and if you want plan to see the show, it’s important to know that all the prime spots require a pay-for-play voucher to get into reserved viewing areas for the Fantasmic! Dining Package. Although there are FOUR different ways to score a great spot to see the show, the most premium is going to be the $89 per person ($35 per child) Blue Bayou Fantasmic! Dining Package.
See below for our thoughts on the food, the views, and the process.
EDITOR’S NOTE: This posting was updated 01/16/23 to remove outtdated details on reservations.
The Cost
There’s a fixed price for lunch or dinner and the menu is the same for either reservation period. Tax and gratuity are not included. Vouchers are only available for the first show of the evening.
- $89 per adult
- $35 per child (ages 3 to 9)
The View
It’s the best possible view for the show right in the center section with the ability to go right up to the water’s edge. Although the show is great from just about any vantage point, there’s a special magic of seeing all the projections, lighting, and choreography from where it was stage to be viewed: right in the middle! Check out our video below from opening night when the show returned earlier this year.
The Food
The food at Blue Bayou does not disappoint but really the ambiance of the experience is why this popular spot commands top dollar. The menu items are essentially the same as the regular menu but there’s also a fantastic (and huge) Sorcerer Mickey themed dessert that is as delicious as it is pretty!
The Menu
Here’s a complete look at Blue Bayou Fantasmic! Dining Package menu for adults and children.
The Starters
The Chicken Gumbo with tasso ham, andouille sausage, pepers and tomatoes over steamed rice is a hearty satisfying cup of happiness The lighter and incredibly refreshing Heriloom Tomato & Watermelon Salad with marscapone honey, purple radish, herbed vinaigrette and tomato vinaigrette is also a fantastic choice. Other choices include Blue Bayou Salad and Hearts of Palm Escabeche.
The Entrees
The Monte Cristo & Seasonal Salad is a fan-favorite but we’d honestly recommend opting for one of the other choices on the menu. The Filet Mignon with patatas bravas, spinache, lemon aioli and an olive-piquillo pepper tapenade is a solid classic. Although not quite the most bang for the buck, the Fava Bean & Pistachio Pesto Pasta with asparagus, arugula, tomatoes, basil, and squash blossoms is a tasty option and you can always add a side protein such as chicken or shrimp. There’s also a Sustainable Market Fish on the menu served with Caribbean Hoppin’ John, herbs, lime, and a mango-coconut buerre blanc.
Dessert
On the regular menu, there’s one choice of dessert: the Imagination Mousse. This tantalizing confection features a chocolate truffle mousse with hazelnut-praline crunch and an adorable white chocolate sorcerer Mickey. You can also opt for the regular menu desserts which include simple-yet-satisfying Vanilla-Bourbon Crème Brûlée with pecan cookie, macerated berries and vanilla bean Chantilly or the super rich Layered Chocolate-Coffee Cake with vanilla bean Chantilly and seasonal fruit compote.
Drinks
Aside from regular soft drinks, you can also opt for some of the location’s signature mocktails such as the seasonal 31 Royal Street Signature Julep (ours was Blood Orange and served in the copper cup); a classic non-alcoholic Mint Julep (with fresh mint and lemon); or the Louisiana Lemonade which was so cloyingly sweet (and neon orange) that we couldn’t tell what the extra flavors were supposed to be.
For an additional cost ($16) you can also order the Blue Bayou Hurricane which features Bacardi Reserva Ocho Rum, Myers’s Original Dark Rum, Simply Orange Juice, passion fruit purée, grenadine and lime juice, Luxardo maraschino cherry and orange garnish.
The Process and Tips
The Blue Bayou Fantasmic! Dining Package is the most expensive of all options available and you get what you pay for! Enjoy a great meal in a restaurant renowned for its ambiance and then and get a prime spot to view of one of Disneyland’s most popular nighttime spectaculars.
Getting Your Reservation
You will want to get your reservation in advance as space is extremely limited.
The Blue Bayou Fantasmic! Dining Package can be booked in advance online for either the first or second show. In person, day-of, availability is not guaranteed but if available, quantities will be limited. Check in with the location as soon as it opens for the day.
Getting Your Viewing Area Voucher
After your meal, you will be presented with your vouchers to enter the reserved viewing area for the Fantasmic! Dining Package. Different packages have access to different viewing areas but this is definitely the best one. Despite the section being reserved for Blue Bayou Dining Package guests only, eager guests who want the absolute best spot will usually get to the check in point at or before the recommended check in time.
How to Get Into the Viewing Area
Once you have your vouchers, you will check in with a Cast Member near the Harbour Galley (close to the Haunted Mansion exit) to gain access to the reserved viewing area. If you see guests are already seated in the viewing areas, you can talk to a Cast Member at the ropes for instruction on where best to go, they might let you in from where you are talking to them.
The viewing areas are (ground) sitting only although there are also accommodations for guests in wheel chairs and ECVs who may remain in their transports at the back of the viewing area. If you need to stand, Cast Members will either let you stand at the back of the section along the ropes or direct you to seated viewing on the docks near Habour Galley. Note that the section near Harbour Galley is very far off to the side.
See it for Yourself
Reservations are available from 11:00 AM for lunch and 4:00 PM for dinner. Space is limited so you might not find your preferred time or date but always keep checking back for cancellations, especially in the days leading up to your visit date as people cancel to avoid penalty.
