Disney On Ice presents DREAM BIG made its highly-anticipated return to the ice this week at the Honda Center bringing much-needed family fun and holiday cheer. The show brings together the different worlds of your favorite Disney heroes and heroines and helps you believe, even if just for a moment that “those dreams and those wishes really do come true.”
MouseInfo was invited to check out the show’s debut and I’ve got to say it was refreshing to take in live entertainment in a giant venue again! Suppose you’re like me and prefer shoes over ice skates and in that case, you’ll find that DREAM BIG is undoubtedly an evening out with the family this holiday season you won’t forget.
The Honda Center was an epicenter of fun with this weekend with the sights and sounds of the Disney stories we’ve grown to love over the years coming to life on ice. MC’d by Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, the fa-mouse couple takes us on a journey through the adventurous tales of “Aladdin,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Moana,” “Frozen,” and more – with a bit of help from Tinker Bell, of course! Although some stories received longer ice-time than others, DREAM BIG served a healthy dose of endearing moments you’d expect from a Disney show.
The best part of the entire experience? Well, it’s no surprise that it’s the ice-skating, of course! Performers offered a “shining, shimmering, splendid” display of world-class figure skating that’ll make you “ooh” and “ah” the entire night. My favorite performances were the pair skatings with Rapunzel and Flynn Rider and also Prince Charming and Cinderella. Cinderella’s dress? Wow! Watching iconic movie moments reinterpreted for the ice is such an absolute joy — the stunning “I See The Light” number alone makes this worth the cost of admission!
I’m not one for spoilers but don’t make the same mistake as some parents calling it early, presumably getting their kiddos to bed. If you can, stay for the grand finale, it’ll provide the kind of feel-good sensation that fans are accustomed to and one we could all probably use after the past year or two!
