For most holidays, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will celebrate with special displays in its lobby and for the 2024 Lunar New Year celebration for the Year of the Dragon, they’ve gone all out once again.
A giant dragon swoops over the iconic lobby while confection creations of “it’s a small world” dolls from China, Vietnam and Korea can be enjoyed. Plus, actual edible sweet treats commemorating the celebration can also be enjoyed.
About the Confectionery
Three adorable re-creations of “it’s a small world” dolls have been created in edible form featuring children dressed in symbolic outfits of the respective cultures of China, Vietnam, and Korea.
The Chinese doll is wearing a qipao which is traditional attire that is worn for Chinese New Year and other special occasions. The qipao is a vibrant red color which symbolizes good Iuck.
The Vietnamese doll is wearing a traditional ao dai which includes a matching head piece. Ao dai are worn by both women and men for special occasions including Tet, also known ae Vietnamese New Year.
The Korean doll is wearing a hanbok, which is a traditional attire worn during special celebrations and Seollal, also known aa Korean New Year. He is holding bokjumeonb, a tradiilonal Korean lucky bag used to hold gifts of money.
Sweet Treats
Of course, you can get your hands on a few sweet treats commemorating the celebration including chocolate-dipped pretzel rods, cookies, and cookie shots.
Dragon Decoration
A massive dragon decoration can be seen suspended over lobby.
