Today in celebration of STAR WARS DAY, Disney and Lucasfilm shared some new details about the upcoming STAR WARS: GALACTIC STARCRUISER. Information continues to trickle in as we move towards the 2022 maiden voyage; last week we shared several details about the upcoming luxury liner.
From the D23 Expo we already know that the experience is largely narrative driven over the course of a two-night voyage which allows guests the opportunity to participate as much or as little as they prefer with the unfolding events. Here’s some of the highlights of what was shared today.
A Crew with Character(s)
Guests may encounter the a slew of characters including known Star Wars characters and also the starcruiser’s strong and charismatic captain; we learned last week that she is being developed as a blue-skinned Pantoran alien. You can see and learn more in THE ART OF STAR WARS: GALAXY’S EDGE which is available now at Amazon and other retailers.
Other characters we can expect to encounter are the ship’s plucky mechanic, heroes of the Resistance, or many more as guests choose alliances and chart their courses affecting the outcome of the journey on board.
What to Do
Disney has confirmed some details about on-board activities previously revealed including
- Lightsaber lessons with a training remote where guests may discover their own connection with the Force.
- Starcruiser Bridge tours to learn about its systems and how to operate them, including navigation and defense – skills that may come in handy (wink, wink) during a journey.
- Exploration aboard the starcruiser may lead guests to discover hidden spaces deep in the mechanics of the ship – perfect for uncovering secrets … or holding clandestine meetings.
The journey will include an excursion to Batuu, where guests can explore the winding pathways of Black Spire Outpost and seek out a hidden Resistance base.
Crown of Corellia Dining Room is the supper club onboard offering breakfast and lunch daily to passengers before transitioning each evening into a lavish multi-course menu of both otherworldly and familiar origins.
During one of the dinners on board, guests will find an elegant purple skinned Twi’lek live performance — galactic superstar known to captivate an entire room with a crook of her jewel-encrusted finger. Concept art in the THE ART OF STAR WARS: GALAXY’S EDGE book shows a fancy blue-skinned Twi’lek named Gaya who we suspect may be the performer mentioned today.
We shared earlier today that the STAR WARS: GALACTIC STARCRUISER guests will be the first to see a brand-new, more realistic lightsaber designed by Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development.
See it for Yourself
STAR WARS: GALACTIC STARCRUISER (unofficially referred to as the “Star Wars hotel”) sets its maiden voyage at Walt Disney World in 2022. An exact opening date has not yet been announced.
