Tons of guests poured into the Disneyland Resort this weekend to say goodbye to the cherished Main Street Electrical Parade and although summer is not officially over yet, Disney is already well underway with preparations for the upcoming Halloween Time seasonal celebration.
We’ll take a look around the whole resort this trip for pulse checks on construction for Galaxy’s Edge, Splitsville Luxury Lanes, Mickey and Friends enhancements, and more. Plus we’ll have a gigantic merch run for you with a look at now just all the 2017 Halloween Time merch but tons of pins, t-shirts, socks, and more all waiting to be purchased.
All of this and more in our latest pictorial. ENJOY!
Glowing Away Farewell
The Main Street Electrical Parade enjoyed its final performance at Disneyland on Sunday. After making its world debut June 17, 1972 the parade has had a storied past including several moves to different parks including Disney’s California Adventure across the way and also at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. The parade has also seen updates and changes over the years including the removal of the iconic Blue Fairy float and the introduction of a new Tinker Bell float.
On its final weekend, fans poured into the park to give the parade its final (for the second time) farewell. Enjoy a video below from its debut at Disneyland earlier this year.
The bunting that debuted to celebrate the return has taken quite a beating in the California sun. Still, it’s a fond farewell to a parade that has led a marvelous legacy.
Of course, Disney had plenty of merchandise on sale to commemorate the California classic!

Expanded Halloween Time Offerings
There’s a few Halloween Time surprises in store this year at Disney California Adventure as Disney beefs up the fall offerings in this park — a welcome addition now that the dearly departed Tower of Terror has left the park without its ghostly Hollywood residents.
The highlight this year will be Haul-O-Ween layover coming this year to Cars Land but there will also be new decorations on Buena Vista Street and at the park’s entrance.

The flower that blooms in adversity is the rarest and most beautiful of all.
The Disneyland Annual Passholder popcorn refill program has ended so we didn’t spot many lines at the various carts around the park.
This popcorn bucket design debuted for the premiere of Mickey and the Magical Map but it feels pretty well suited for the return of Fantasmic! this summer, too! The show’s return this year brought with it several updates and changes to the cherished favorite.

In celebration of the return of Fantasmic! Disneyland introduced a bunch of new food items including this amazing new Milk and Honey Funnel Cake which is topped with sweetened condensed milk, clover honey, edible flowers and whipped cream.

Noticed some signage marking the entrance and exit for the Royal St. Veranda.
Several attractions were down on Saturday morning leading to big crowds as guests were unable to board Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, or Indiana Jones Adventure at one point.
You can see construction for Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge creeping up higher along the horizon inside the park.

Next Door Thrills
Our friends at Knott’s Berry Farm invited us to a media announcement last week for their upcoming new HantTime diving coaster coming to the park for the the 2018 summer season.
HangTime is manufactured by Gerstlauer Amusement Rides, GmbH, and is the company’s next-generation “infinity coaster” model.
The thrilling new addition to the boardwalk will send riders up a vertical lift hill into a 15-story 96-degree drop — the steepest drop in California. The coaster’s train will come to a halt once the highest peak is reached, and will leave riders suspended at the crest for several seconds staring downward at a 60-degree angle, giving the illusion of a disappearing track. Then the train will suddenly descend in a beyond-vertical drop, through 2,198 feet of steel track and five gravity-defying inversions. HangTime will be only the second rollercoaster in the Western Hemisphere to feature a negative-g stall loop, which gives riders the sensation of floating.
Boardwalk BBQ
We also got to sample several of the menu items from the newly opened Boardwalk BBQ that is situated right next to where the new coaster will be going. The food is surprisingly awesome for theme park fare. We highly recommend stopping by for a fill–if you’re not planning to head to Mrs. Knott’s for dinner, that is!
