Are you ready to learn more about the Plants of the Jungle Cruise?
In his previous talk in 2016, Dr. Marley discussed how the site for Disneyland was chosen and how the park was turned into a botanical garden. This time, he returns to tell the story of how the wildest part of Disneyland was created: the Jungle Cruise.
Marley will discuss how the Evans Brothers went about creating what they called “The best jungle this side of Costa Rica” in less than a year. Many of the plants chosen for the ride were new to southern California and took special care to keep them alive. Even today, a small army of horticulturists work to keep the jungle healthy and looking untamed.
Dr. Marley will also read excerpts from his new book Skipper Stories: True Tales from Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise, featuring stories of skipper’s interactions with the jungle and its wildlife. More information here.
