My guilty pleasure for the past few years of San Diego Comic-Con is PEANUTS! Fellow staff writer Becca Joynt introduced me to the magical world of PEANUTS–well, beyond the pre-built love I already had for them thanks to my visits to Knotts Berry Farm as a kid!
So for the past few years, we have made it a tradition to go to the PEANUTS panels and to visit their official booth on the showfloor. This year’s panel in particular was a special one as it was all about the 65th Anniversary of the lovable Peanuts. In 2015, Charles M. Schulz’s iconic Peanuts gang celebrates not only their 65th anniversary but also two years of the current volume of the Peanuts comic book at BOOM!
On the panel this year was moderator Douglas Wolk (Reading Comics), Terry Moore (Strangers in Paradise), Art Baltazar (Tiny Titans), Colleen Coover (BandetteI), Lex Fajardo (managing editor of Charles M. Schulz) and Cesar Gaellgos (archivist Schulz Museum.) Each panelist talked about their love of Peanuts and how they got involved with working with the Peanuts comic book at BOOM! They all said that their contribution to the newest book is their reflections on Schulz and really “love letters” of sorts to all of the Peanuts gang.
THE END!
