As difficult as it may be to believe, there was not a single official Disney Store anywhere in China until last week when the multinational chain of stores opened the first-ever location in Shanghai.
Hong Kong Disneyland has been in operation since 2005 and while official locations to shop are available there, there were no official Disney Store locations throughout the entire country of China. The new store comes just a head of the in-progress Disney Resort that is currently under construction in Shanghai for a 2016 opening.
The Disney brand in general is not very well known so it’s hoped that this will be some of the first official ways that the Disney brand will continue to be introduced to Chinese consumers.
