MouseInfo was invited to the official grand opening of Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift at Universal Studios Hollywood debuting the fastest attraction not only to the park but to the entire Universal portfolio! Following a brief opening ceremony guests in attendance were invited to experience the technologically advanced, high-speed outdoor roller coaster reaches top speeds of 72 MPH.

Here’s a look at what we got to see for the grand opening of Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift.

Located on the Upper Lot within a red brick-garage-like structure, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift opens on the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the original film and features a dual-launching, split-ride track that propels guests through four launches, an inverted dive loop, twisted pretzel loop, and inverted stall.

Riders reach speeds of up to 72 MPH and forces of up to 3.6 Gs along 4,100 feet of aerial track built with sound-reduction technology while drifting at 360 degrees. Thrill seekers are harnessed into one of four iconic ride vehicles modeled after cars driven by characters in the film series: the Dodge Charger, Mazda RX-7, Nissan Skyline GT-R, and the Toyota Supra. Each vehicle is fully rotational, independently programmed, and equipped with an independent audio system providing unique engine and sound effects.

The attraction’s queue includes a transparent encased section of the ride track, panoramic views of the San Fernando Valley, the Universal Studio movie studio, and the theme park, alongside props from the films such as:

  • Car Cannon, driven by Brian O’Conner in FAST & FURIOUS 6
  • Roll Cage and Winch, featuring the 2010 Dodge Charger SRT8 driven by Dom Toretto in FAST 5
  • Vault Truck, featured in FAST 5
  • Motorcycle, featured in F9 and driven by Letty Ortiz
  • NOS System and Dodge Charger Engine, a recreation of the internal operating system
  • Ramp Car, driven by Owen Shaw in FAST & FURIOUS 6
  • Rolling Bomb, featured in FAST X
  • Rollover Stunt Rig, a recreation of stunt rigging used in the films

Guests must place belongings in complimentary lockers and pass through metal detection before entering the ride platform. Visitors can also scan QR codes on display props within the queue to access behind-the-scenes insights via the Backlot Club fan engagement site.

The adventures continue in theatres on March 2028 with the latest film film in the saga, FAST FOREVER.
