Why does it always have to be snakes?? Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent is the official name of the attraction coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom and at 2026 D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event we learned a few more details about the upcoming adventure.

Here’s a look at what we got to see at the Disney Experiences Showcase during 2026 D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event (formerly D23 Expo) taking place from August 14 – 16, 2026.

What to Expect

The Disney Experiences Showcase at the Honda Center was hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and featured Imagineers Michael Hundgen and Chris Beatty who were ready to talk about Indy’s latest quest. Here’s some of what we learned.

  • Harrison Ford is working with Disney to digital model his face for attraction’s animatronics.
  • The original storyline is set in the 1950s (prior to Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) inside an ancient Mayan temple facade.
  • The attraction dives into a mythological underworld chase involving monstrous bats, larger-than-life scorpions, fire and flame, and serpent deity Tsukán.
  • Dr. Jones is in the midst of exploring this mysterious temple near a once water-filled underground cave, called a cenote. Local legend says the passageway leads directly to the Maya Underworld, and is protected by Tsukán.

More Fun

  • A model for the temple facade as well as a sculptured figure of the serpentine head of the Tsukán were on display at the Disney Experiences Imagineering: Horizons pavilion.
