Disney is kicking off a massive company-wide campaign for the nation’s semiquincentennial 250th anniversary. From coast-to-coast attraction overhauls to rare character sightings and classic patriotic entertainment, the celebration stretches across television, streaming, Disney Parks, and more.

Here is everything you need to know about the Disney Celebrates America campaign.

Soarin’ Across America

The previously announced Soarin’ Across America is officially open at EPCOT and will make its grand debut at Disney California Adventure on July 2. The new film is accompanied by an all-new arrangement of the iconic attraction score, recorded by original composer Bruce Broughton. The attraction anchors the patriotic approach for the company. Walt Disney Imagineering has updated the attraction with over a dozen iconic domestic locations, including:

  • The New England coastline
  • Mount Rushmore
  • Washington, D.C.
  • New York City
  • Grand Canyon West

At Walt Disney World, National Geographic has stepped in to overhaul the EPCOT queue. Guests waiting to board can look at curated archival photography and test their knowledge with “The Soarin’ Challenge Across America”—a new trivia game utilizing state superlatives (like finding out which state is “Most Likely to Strike Gold”).

At Disneyland Resort

Disneyland started the festivities early during Los Angeles Fleet Week, welcoming more than 100 Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen for a special flag retreat ceremony, a U.S. Navy flyover, and a performance by Navy Band Southwest.

If you are visiting the Anaheim parks this summer, here is what you can expect:

  • New Patriotic Outfits: Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse are greeting guests in brand-new, red, white, and blue attire designed specifically for this milestone anniversary.
  • Resort DĂ©cor: Classic patriotic bunting and decorations will line Main Street, U.S.A. at Disneyland Park and Buena Vista Street at Disney California Adventure.
  • Daily Traditions: Special flag retreat ceremonies will take place daily to honor veterans and active-duty service members.
  • Fourth of July Weekend Exclusives: The celebration ramps up significantly over the holiday weekend with:
    • The return of the Celebrate America! fireworks spectacular at Disneyland Park.
    • A special patriotic pre-show ahead of World of Color at Disney California Adventure.
    • A celebratory America-themed cavalcade down the parade route.
    • Special performances by military bands and patriotic themed sets from the Dapper Dans.

At Walt Disney World

Over in Florida, the celebration touches multiple parks and the Disney Springs shopping district with limited-time food, beverage, and merchandise options.

  • EPCOT Entertainment & Lighting: Beyond the new Soarin’ experience, Spaceship Earth will feature a custom patriotic lighting package. The Voices of Liberty will also perform their signature a cappella American songbook sets inside the American Adventure pavilion.
  • Magic Kingdom Traditions: Main Street, U.S.A. will feature full holiday dĂ©cor, alongside daily performances by the Dapper Dans and the Main Street Philharmonic.
  • The Electrical Water Pageant: The classic nighttime floating pageant on the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake will feature its traditional patriotic grand finale.
  • Portraits of Courage Exhibit: The auxiliary exhibit at EPCOT, which honors post-9/11 veterans through portraits painted by President George W. Bush, will have an extended run through the Fourth of July weekend.
  • Disney Springs Entertainment: Guests visiting the shopping district can see festive dĂ©cor and catch live performances by the United States Air Force Band of the West.

The park-style celebration extends slightly outside the traditional resort grid for fans looking to bring the magic home or set sail:

  • Disney Cruise Line: High-seas travelers will experience themed patriotic activities onboard select sailings—including the Disney Wonder, which will broadcast live from Ketchikan, Alaska, as part of ABC’s upcoming July 4th television special.
  • Sam Eagle Merchandise Collection: The Muppets’ resident patriot is getting his own dedicated spotlight. A limited-edition Sam Eagle merchandise collection will launch at select retail locations across the resorts and online at DisneyStore.com.

If you can’t make it to the parks this summer, Disney is bringing the 250th anniversary celebration directly to your living room with unprecedented television programming across ABC, Disney+, Hulu, and more.
