Proof that an old idea never dies, the Mouse is once again reviving plans to expand parking and transportation services on the east side of the Disneyland Resort with an all new parking structure and transportation hub.

Here’s everything we know so far about the new parking and transportation hub coming to the east side of the Disneyland Resort.

Parking and Transportation Hub

Disney confirmed both a new parking structure and transportation hub will be added to Disneyland Resort improving parking and traffic flow throughout the surrounding areas. The expansion will be built on a portion of what is currently the Manchester cast member parking lot.

  • This new area will provide approximately 6,000 parking spaces
  • Shuttle and Rideshare areas
  • Security Screening
  • Dedicated access for traffic off of Disney Way

New Bridge

This new parking and transportation hub will also feature a pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard that will:

  • Lead to an all-new esplanade arrival experience
  • Provide public access to and from Harbor Boulevard and Good Neighbor Hotels

A Look Back

Similar plans that were ultimately canceled were announced in 2016 under the heading of an Eastern Gateway project. You can learn more about those now-defunct plans in our posting below.

A Look Forward

These enhanced parking, transit, and arrival offerings are part of a broader initiative for the company to move DisneylandForward with enhanced guest experiences, attractions, and more. As a teaser, Disney also confirmed two exiting details for upcoming adventures across from Disneyland.
