For several years, the DisneylandForward project has been slowly moving ahead with ambitious plans of major expansion to the Anaheim property. Now, Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock has confirmed that the Anaheim City Council has given final approval for DisneylandForward to begin.

Getting to the next era of Disneyland Resort was no small feat. Disneyland Resort leaders worked closely with city staff, neighbors, and our local community over the past three years to make sure DisneylandForward will be a multipronged community approach in the next phase of evolution for the Happiest Place on Earth.

Potrock exclaimed via the DPB that the legacy project allows Disney to proceed with new entertainment experiences, bringing the creation of an estimated 4,500+ new jobs (plus nearly 9,000 construction jobs within the first 10 years) and new revenue streams for the city.

Without any concrete plans announced, Disneyland Resort is poised to to build on self-touted decades of innovation, creativity, and storytelling to bring new, exciting experiences to life. Below are some of the commitments that the DisneylandForward enacts.

  • In total, Disney will be investing a minimum of $1.9 billion in the resort in the first 10 years. Cal State Fullerton’s economic impact study projects increased revenues of about $15 million annually for Anaheim from each $1 billion we invest. This will help fund necessary community services, including additional fire and police, parks, and libraries.
  • Disney has committed to a unique benefits package for Anaheim and its residents, including $30 million for affordable housing, $8 million for parks, $85 million in traffic improvements and pedestrian safety, and continued investment in workforce development programs.

See it for Yourself

DisneylandForward is now officially approved and the fruits of the passing of this project will begin to be revealed over the coming years. D23 this year should hopefully prove to be a fun one
