Disney Cruise Line officially confirmed the name of one of their newest ships, the Disney Destiny. As with the recent Disney Wish, it was confirmed that Minnie Mouse will proudly emblazon the bow of the new upcoming ship.

Heroes and Villains Theme

The design theme of the Disney Destiny, sister to the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, will be “Heroes and Villains,” drawing on the legacy of beloved Disney stories, characters and theme park attractions, to forge a cruise vacation that will empower guests to embrace their own calling aboard every unforgettable voyage.

Onboard, guests will encounter heroes and villains alike — including those from beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios stories like THE LION KING, HERCULES, and ONE HUNDRED AND ONE DALMATIANS —within the spaces, experiences and entertainment throughout their voyage.

20190418_233206 The news comes on a significant construction milestone on the Disney Destiny marked by the traditional keel laying ceremony at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. During a ship’s construction, when the first block, or section of a ship, is lowered into the building dock, a newly minted coin is placed under the keel for good fortune. The coin created for the Disney Destiny features Minnie Mouse in the same heroic pose as the ship’s bow artwork.

Captain Minnie Mouse originally made a big splash in 2019 as part of a collection of initiatives aiming to inspire the next generation of female leaders in the cruise industry. And with Captain Minnie at the helm of the Disney Wish, the hope is to continue inspiring girls and young women around the globe!

Disney Destiny is scheduled for delivery in 2025. An official date on maiden voyage has not yet been announced.

The ship is part of a multi-year expansion of the Disney Cruise Line fleet that includes the recently launched Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, the Disney Adventure (which will homeport in Singapore), and the new island destination in The Bahamas, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
