Celebrate Gospel has returned once again as part of Disney’s broader celebration of Black History Month under their Celebrate Soulfully initiative. We had the chance to check out the event on February 17 and there’s one more upcoming on February 24.
Here’s a look at what you can expect with the 2024 return of Celebrate Gospel to Disneyland.
What to Expect
Set in the Fantasyland Theater once again this year, the event takes place over two Saturdays this month from 2:30 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. each day and features community choirs joining the the Happiest Place on Earth to bring a joyful noise. Each night of the event also has headlinling acts.
- Feb. 17 – Marvin Sapp
- Feb. 24 – Tasha Cobbs Leonard
Aside from the musical performances, you can enjoy a special food items at Troubadour Tavern (which continues to feature it’s regular menu of stuffed baked potatoes) plus new event-specific specials including a Fried Chicken Bowl and a Pecan Pie Casserole.
You can also head to the crafts area where you can color in a hand fan or fill out a card with your thankful blessings to hang from the Wall of Giving Flowers. There’s also photo-ops an wall-art paying homage to the history of gospel music.
Dining Options
We tried both of the new food items and they are both fantastic.
Fried Chicken Bowl ($14.99) is only available February 16-18 and 23-25. It features Spicy Honey-glazed Fried Chicken served with Four Cheese Mac ‘n Cheese, Smoked Turkey Collard Greens and Sweet Potato Corn Bread. Everything here was fantastic. The chicken is tender and juicy while the breading is light and crispy The greens were smokey, the mac was cheesy, and the corn bread did what it needed to do.
Sweet Potato-Pecan Pie Casserole ($14.99) is only available February 16-18 and 23-25. It is absolutely delightful. It’s very sweet and there’s bits of pecan in every single bite. The toasted marshmallows on top are the chef’s kiss to finish the meal.
