Disneyland has officially confirmed that the characters Meilin and Ming from Disney-Pixar’s TURNING RED will be greeting guests at Disney California Adventure this year as part of the Lunar New Year celebrations.

According to Disney, the characters will be arriving “soon” — we’re guessing by January 23 which is the official kick off of the Lunar New Year festivities at Disney California Adventure. According to Scott Gustin on Twitter, Meilin is “so excited that she has begun to turn into her Red Panda form.”
Other characters that guests can typically expect as part of the Lunar New Year festivities include Mickey and Minnie in red and gold outfits, Mulan and Mushu, and Raya from RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON.
The Disney Lunar New Year celebration is a tribute to Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean traditions with multicultural celebration ringing in the Year of the Dragon. Guests can expect to find Asian-inspired food and beverages, vibrant décor and Mushu leading the way in “Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession.”
