The 2023 Lunar New Year is underway at Disney California Adventure and we’ve got a look at everything there is to enjoy at this surprisingly simple yet robust yearly tradition at the Disneyland Resort. This year’s special guests are Oswald the Lucky Rabbit (to commemorate the Chinese and Korean Lunar New Year of the Rabbit) and Ortensia (to commemorate the Vietnamese Year of the Cat).

Tasty New Year
A ton of flavors are packed into the park creating a miniature food festival of sorts. Several fan favorites have returned and new menu options are available to tempt the palate. Check out some of what we tried below.
Entertainment
Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession
The charming presentation features Mulan and Mushu along with other characters who accompany a series of dancers and musicians in this beautiful little pageant. It really is a must-see offering.

“Hurry Home – Lunar New Year Celebration”
A heartwarming nighttime water show at Paradise Bay prior to “World of Color” which tells the tale of a little lantern’s quest to reunite with family for the annual celebration of good luck and fortune. Composer Tan Dun composed the beautiful musical score for this 6-minute story.
Live Daily Performances
Melody of China. Vocal Seoul, and other authentic Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese dancers and musicians can also be seen as part of the celebration.
Character Greets
Ortensia makes her Disnelyand Resort debut to commemorate the Vietnamese Year of the Cat and she can be seen along with Oswald the Lucky Rabbit to commemorate the Chinese and Korean Lunar New Year. This image was provided courtesy of Disney.
Mulan and Mushu are also ready to greet guests and wish them a lucky and happy new year.

Raya is back at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail and ready to greet guests.
Magic Key Features
Under the Silly Symphony Swings from 1pm to 5pm, Magic Key holders can get themselves a complimentary Lunar New Year button designed by Ann Shen.
Activities
The Lucky Wishing Wall is back again, you can write out your wishes for the new year and share it here.
Crafts are available for the littles and the young at heart. This year, it’s a fan that can be colored featuring Oswald or Ortensia.
