At Midsummer Scream 2023, prolific creative director and executive producer John Murdy was locked and loaded with new announcements, details, and teases for the upcoming terror to be unleashed at the 2023 Universal Studios Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights.

Announcements and highlights of the event included:
- New maze: MONSTRUOS: The Monsters of Latin America will be based on Latin American legends and stories focusing in on three main villains including Tlahuelpuchi, La Lechuza, and El Silbón. The maze will be set in the Cemetery of the Lost and also include an ominous new character called Muerte.
- New Scare Zone: El Terror de las Momias features undead Aztec warriors and villagers in a fantastic new atmosphere inspired by fake legendry movie monsters from Mexico.
- New maze: Universal Monsters: Unmasked had been previously announced a few days earlier but we got extra details on the new maze including peeks at new characters such as Mademe Squelette plus teases of new music by Slash
- Teased without context included MURDER OF CROWS, Bride of Frankenstein, and Larry Larva from Project Eggplant.
