At Midsummer Scream 2023, the legendary Halloween event Knott’s Scary Farm made some fun teases and announcements as it looked back on 50 years of Halloween haunts!
Ted Dougherty was on hand along with Ken Parks, Jon Cookie, Jeff Shadic, and Karl Busche to share details about the upcoming event. Plus, Diane and Valery Vincent, daughters of actor Larry Vincent, took a retrospective look back at their father’s popular character Sinister Seymour who is being re-imagined as a new Scary Farm character, the Keeper!

Announcements and highlights of the event included:
- Ken Parks teased that The Hanging might not have had its final swing in 2019.
- New this year will be an RFID Conductor’s Lantern that will allow guests to interact with dozens of different touch points around the park including inside of A new Knott’s Legacy Haunt Store and Museum
- The new Knott’s Legacy Haunt Store and Museum will open at the Emporium. It will be open to all guests during the day, but will have interactive nighttime elements exclusive to Knott’s Scary Farm.
- A new limited edition edition of “The History of Knott’s Scary Farm” will be released with a foreword by Neil Patrick Harris.
- A variety of new merchandise will also be available for Knott’s Scary Farm, including products by Lounge Fly and Spirit Jersey plus a wealth of homagey materials including tees, photo frames, and much more.
- A new character inspired by Sinister Seymour will be coming to Knott’s Scary Farm this year. He is called The Keeper.

Jeff Shadic, Manager of Park Decor and Visual Display for Knott’s Berry Farm shared some peeks at the upcoming decorations to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the event.
Karl Busche, Product Development Manager for Knott’s Berry Farm shared a peek at a BUNCH of new merch coming to pay homage to 50 years of this event.
Sisters Diane and Valery Vincent took to the stage to talk about the legacy of their father Larry Vincent who was part of Knott’s Scary Farm in its early years. He is the inspiration for the new THE KEEPR character that will be a part of this year’s event.
