As the popular Netflix show heads towards its final episodes, the STRANGER THINGS: THE EXPERIENCE event pop-up up Montebello, CA is ready to take you back to Hawkins and into the Upside Down to celebrate five seasons of retro fun. The experience is made up of two parts: an insanely fun immersive experience that brings the characters and story to life around you and a Mix-Tape Lounge with food, drinks, and shopping offerings to round out your visit.
MouseInfo was invited opening weekend to check out the offerings with a hosted visit and we were thoroughly surprised and impressed with the entire setup. Here’s our full look at everything you can expect as part of the Los Angeles STRANGER THINGS: THE EXPERIENCE!
The Immersive Experience
Step into the Hawkins National Laboratory where you will become part of a sleep study and potentially unlock powers you never knew you had. When things start to go side ways you’ll have help from Dustin, Will, Mike, Lucas, Erica, and Max to break free and help Eleven in the upside down as you encounter demodogs, demogorgons, and Vecna himself!
The best way we can describe the multi-room immersive experience is a cross between Halloween Horror Nights and the Rise of the Resistance attraction at Disneyland. The 45-minute experience starts you off on a series of adventures including the Rainbow Room honing your mind powers where you find yourself escaping to an off-limits research area, before breaking out of a high-tech control room while avoiding demodogs and finally make your way into the Upside Down for a 4D explosive finale.
Mix-Tape Lounge
Once you survive your encounter in the Upside Down, you’re free to explore the Mix-Tape Lounge at your own pace. You’ll find food and drink offerings plus tons of photo-ops and shopping opportunities.

This space is inspired by Hellfire Club with some bitchin’ artwork.
There’s a bunch of details all over the place that can serve as additional photo-ops, too. There’s even actual photo booths to snap your pics.
