Disneyland has confirmed that Mickey’s Toontown will be closed beginning March 9, 2022 with an expected reopening in early 2023 in time for the debut of the Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway imported attraction from Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Mickey’s Toontown will receive a massive re-imagining at Disneyland for 2023 debut

The closure of the land promises all-new experiences, more play and interactivity with a focus on families and young children. Previously missing from Disney’s announcements were confirmations of returning attractions but we now know that Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin, Mickey’s House and Minnie’s House will remain in place. It was also confirmed that new enhancements are coming to Gadget’s Go Coaster, Goofy’s House and Donald’s Boat.

Part of the refresh to the land will also include a new CenTOONial Park designed for play, which will also become a center icon for Mickey’s Toontown along with a new fountain. As its base, water tables will invite guests to play with the water and have a sensory experience. At night, the fountain will be brought to life in a unique spectacle.

A nearby dreaming tree will be inspired by the tree a young Walt Disney would daydream under in his hometown. Sculpted tree roots will provide an opportunity for children to play, crawl and explore, and undulating topography will offer rolling hills and a place to sit and dream.
