Oogie Boogie Bash is first and foremost a Disney Halloween Party at Disney California Adventure and what kind of soiree would it be if there wasn’t loads of treats?

During the after-hours party, guests can stuff their trick-or-treat bags with sweet treats (with healthier options too including apple slices, carrots, and pretzels!) and also come face-to-face with a myriad of Disney characters — many of which can only be seen during the event!

We visited this year for the 2021 Halloween Time season and are happy to share our peek at the candy and characters we enjoyed during Oogie Boogie Bash 2021! ENJOY!

Immersive Treat Trails

The Candy

20210928_145706When you check in for Oogie Boogie Bash, you are given your event wristband and a handy (little) bag to hold your candy. We packed our Magic Key popcorn bucket which served as the perfect backup to hold even more treats once our bags got full! We saw other astute treaters filling pillow cases, merch bags, and even their own backpacks throughout the night.

Don’t forget to grab an event map which highlights all the Immersive Treat Trails and there’s no limit to how many times you go through each one! If you lose your map, not to worry. The Immersive Treat Trails are clearly marked around the park with gigantic light-up Oogie structures!

The Characters

Nearly all of the Immersive Treat Trails also pack an extra special treat with a character appearance! This year, three new characters (who you can only see during the event) are Agatha Harkness (from WandaVision), Cruella DeVil (from the 2021 live action feature), and Sid (from Toy Story).

She’s insidious! So perfidious! Naughty Agatha!

She’s like a spider waiting for the kill!

Some of Cruella’s fashions are on display.

Did you get tickets to the SID SHOW?

Sid brought all of his toys to blow up play with safely during the event!

Did we mention you can see Agatha Harkness???

As the namesake for the whole event, you better believe you can spot Oogie Boogie himself!

All the characters you can see are quite mad, you might say as mad as a Hatter (from the 2010 feature).

The original mistress of darkness, Maleficent! You can see that the photo-ops are designed to be vewed at night with fancy lighting packages.

Yes, you can get apple slices on this treat trail but enjoy them at your own risk…

Dr. Facilier worked out a deal with his friends on the other side for a special appearance.

Hiya, hon!

Character Greets

Immersive Treat Trails aren’t the only way to get some quality face time with Disney characters. There are several photo-ops around the park just for the event and the rotating roster of characters means you never know who you might see!

One unexpected advantage of the health and safety measures is that social distancing (and no autograph books) ensure the lines move along speedily! We didnt find ourselves waiting more than 10-15 minutes for any treat trail or character photo-op. Magical!

It’s not just villains that you might see! Cinderella (along with Lady Tremaine and the wicked stepsisters, Anastasia and Drizella) were also ou charming guests.

Hades and Megara!

Robin Hood, Little John, Sheriff of Nottingham, and Prince John! Just missing Friar Tuck and Marian!

Other baddies you might spot include Governor Ratcliffe, Jafar, Captain Hook, and Mr. Smee!
