Universal Studios Hollywood confirmed via email today that THE WALKING DEAD, a year-round horror walk-through attraction in the park’s Upper Lot, will close permanently March 4, 2020.
“After many years of thrilling guests, ‘The Walking Dead’ attraction will close on March 4. The area, now referred to as Pets Place, has been reimagined to accommodate the arrival of the new ride, The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash! We look forward to the return of ‘The Walking Dead’ as a focal point in our slate of Halloween Horror Nights mazes this fall.”
The attraction’s popularity ebbed and flowed in the past two years, and its existence precluded the temporary WALKING DEAD mazes that had been a selling point of Halloween Horror Nights events prior to 2016. The space previously held the Universal House of Horrors walk-through, which before that had been a Van Helsing maze. With its closure, it will be the first time Universal Studios Hollywood has gone without a permanent horror walk-through in many years.
