FROZEN 2 takes us back into the beautiful world of Arendelle but also beyond its stoned walls and rolling hills into the unknown Enchanted Forest. The story is packed with adventure and it’s been carefully crafted in 4DX format to deliver an unmatched way to dive back into the icy world. We were given the opportunity to attend as part of a press preview and we immediately seized the day to take part in the special opportunity.

Frozen2_PayoffPosterFROZEN 2 is absolutely the Disney movie event of the month (before STAR WARS dominates the cultural zeitgeist) and having the experience enhanced by 4DX is a great way to enjoy the adventure into the unknown even further.

FROZEN 2 is a growth journey for Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Olaf… and the audience

The first sensory effect of note is one you’re probably already familiar with and it’s 3D! Don your glasses but hold on tight, that’s only the tip of the Ahtohallan iceberg.

We say it over and again that short of a safety spiel and a lap bar, the 4DX experience is practically a theme park experience in its own right. On first glance, it doesn’t seem entirely different than what you’re used to in a modern cineplex but these plush comfy sweats offer more than meets the eye with a wide range of motion and also the ability to vibrate.

With swooping vistas, towering forests, and magic afoot at every turn, the film is accentuated nicely with the usage of the motion-enabled seats. The movement of the seats is used not just in expected action-heavy battles but also to phenomenal effect in the songs; swaying you to the rhythm and making sure you feel every beat as Elsa sings her stunning soliloquy, “Into the Unknown.” You’ll bob and teeter as if in the boat with Anna and Olaf as paddle through a river full of sleeping rock giants and you’ll feel the impact of Sven’s hooves on the ground as he thunders through the forest with Kristoff on his back.

But moving seats aren’t the only effect to make this adventure special. This is a multi-sensory experience that can include gusts of wind traversing through gusty fjords; sprinkles of water as Elsa tempts the Dark Sea; puffs of smoke/fog adding dimension during key moments with Elsa’s magic; strobe effects accentuating lightning and blasts of magic; and snow… OBVIOUSLY.

Plus, although we didn’t notice their usage for this picture at our screening, 4DX theaters are typically also equipped to deliver additional effects including bubbles, scent effects, hot air, and seat pokers.

You might have seen a ScreenX mega widescreen presentation or noshed on over-priced eats in a dine-in theater, but if you haven’t experienced a 4DX format picture before, you’re truly missing out on a really fun way to enjoy blockbuster movies.

FROZEN 2 is playing now in theaters and is available several formats including 4DX which you can learn more about here.
