LOVE, SIMON was a great 2018 film about a young man coming to terms with his sexuality and now Disney+ is building into this same world with a new student at Creekwood High School on his own journey of self-discovery, facing challenges at home, adjusting to a new city, and struggling with his sexual orientation. Nick Robinson, star of original Film, returns as a series producer and narrator for the show.
The half-hour series features actor Michael Cimino (āAnnabelle Comes Home,ā āTraining Dayā) in the lead role of Victor who reaches out to Simon for guidance. The ensemble cast includes Ana Ortiz (āWhiskey Cavalier,ā āUgly Bettyā) stars as Isabel, Victorās smart and warm mother who loves her husband and her family, but is under a lot of pressure as they move their family across the country. Nick Robinson (āLove, Simonā, āJurassic Worldā), who starred in the original film, will also produce and narrate the series. The filmās original writers Isaac Aptaker (āThis Is Usā) and Elizabeth Berger (āThis Is Usā) executive produce the series alongside Brian Tanen (āGrand Hotelā), Jason Ensler (āThe Passageā), Isaac Klausner (āThe Hate U Giveā), Marty Bowen (āFirst Manā), Adam Fishbach (āNarcosā), Wyck Godfrey ( āI, Robotā), and Pouya Shahbazian (āDivergentā). Amy York Rubin (āCasualā) directs the first episode with her creative partner Pilar Boehm co-executive producing. Adam Londy will also co-executive produce.
The cast also includes James Martinez (āOne Day at a Timeā) as Armando, Victorās regular blue collar āguyās guyā father who loves his family deeply and works hard for his family. Isabella Ferreira (āOrange is the New Blackā) plays Pilar, Victorās sullen younger sister in the throws of teenage angst, while Mateo Fernandez will make his acting debut as Adrian, Victorās adorable, good-natured little brother. Johnny Sequoyah (āBelieveā) stars as Mia, Victorās whip-smart friend with a quick wit and easy laugh, with Bebe Wood (āThe Real OāNeals,ā āThe New Normalā) as her quirky and social media-obsessed best friend, Lake. George Sear (āWill,ā āInto the Badlandsā) portrays Benji, Victorās confident and charming classmate, with Anthony Turpel (āThe Bold and the Beautifulā) as Felix, Victorās lanky, awkward new neighbor, and Mason Gooding (āBooksmartā) as Andrew, Creekwoodās cocky and popular basketball-loving jock.
