PURL is the first Pixar SparkShorts feature to be released and it is a refreshing commentary on equality in the work place. In trademark Pixar style it delivers a great message in an entertaining format… and it delivers a little more risque tone than we might be used to from the house that the lamp built.

The short is the first of three upcoming releases. The remaining two Pixar SparkShorts — SMASH AND GRAB and KITBULL — will respectively have their YouTube debuts on February 11, 2019 and February 18, 2019.

PURL is directed by Kristen Lester and produced by Gillian Libbert-Duncan and features an earnest ball of yarn named Purl. She gets a job in a fast-paced, high energy, bro-tastic start-up. Yarny hijinks ensue as she tries to fit in, but how far is she willing to go to get the acceptance she yearns for, and in the end, is it worth it?

The Pixar SparkShorts program is intended to discover new storytellers, explore new storytelling techniques, and experiment with new production workflows.
