Literally from end to end, the Disneyland Resort is a flurry of construction AND celebrations. At the northern most point is Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge while at the southern most point is Pixar PIer.

On this trip, we’ll take a look at the 2018 Lunar New Year celebration which brings with it a lot of favorites from previous years. Plus, we’ll roll in to rock out the newly soft-opened Splitsville in Downtown Disney which is now accepting guests. Meanwhile, several other locations in Downtown Disney continue construction towards opening including Disney Home, Ballast Point, Black Tap, and Naples expansion.

Attractions have also reopened since our last visit including “it’s a small world” and Grizzly River Run plus other refurbishment projects continue including the massive undertaking of re-doing the horse-drawn streetcar tracks all the length of Main Street from entrance to castle!

Of course, we’ll have a Merch Run with a look at some REALLY REALLY awesome new merchandise pieces. All of this and much much more in our latest pictorial update. ENJOY!

2018 Lunar New Year at DCA

It’s once again time for the Lunar New Year celebration at Disney California Adventure; a tradition which brings with it festive food, entertainment, and more. This year it’s the Year of the Dog so everyone’s favorite four-legged pooch PLUTO is this year’s main mascot.

Splitsville Soft Opened

Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort finally has some interesting food variety now that Splitsville Luxury Lanes have opened. With burgers, sushi, pizzas, and more, the robust menu brings with it an explosion of new flavors to an otherwise very dated and tired dining lineup at the Disney shopping district. Oh, and there’s bowling, too!

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge

Pixar Pier

Toy Story Mania! painting is well under way and the roof elements are starting to turn blue as per the concept art.

Concept art shows a blue roof for Toy Story Mania and a seemingly relocated entrance.

The entrance marquee for Paradise Pier has been completely removed. Per the concept art, looks like a new one is going to appear.

Some of the distinguishing characteristics on the former Ariel’s Grotto and Treasures in Paradise locations have been removed.

Not much is known about what’s going on on the western end of the pier.

Mickey’s Fun Wheel will be keeping the Mickey but the gondolas will be themed to various Pixar characters. Or guess is the same ones showing up on the refurb walls. Speaking of which more characters appeared since our last visit…

Looks like all the previously printed signs were reprinted to correct shading mistakes on all of the faces. You can see above the fixed shading elements that were not displayed properly on the previous versions.
