Following the quiet removal of OLAF’S FROZEN ADVENTURE from theaters today, Disney confirmed that the adorable short — which has gained a lot of negative recently press due to its uncharacteristic length running before Disney-Pixar’s COCO — will be moving to television instead. A move that many, including us here at MouseInfo, seemed to have been the natural path for the adorable holiday special that clocks in at just over 21 minutes.
OLAF’S FROZEN ADVENTURE will have its broadcast television debut on the ABC Television Network’s “25 Days of Christmas” celebration on THURSDAY, DEC. 14 (8:00-8:30 p.m. EST). It will be followed by Disney Animation’s Emmy Award-winning holiday special PREP & LANDING which airs 8:30-9:00 p.m. EST.
We loved it! However, it did feel overly long for theatrical release. Would have much rather seen it on television, with a 30-minute lead in that talked about Frozen, Broadway show, and sequel. Also, Pixar shorts should be in front of Pixar features.

The new FROZEN featurette includes four new original songs and welcomes back the beloved characters (and cast) from the original animated feature including Olaf, voiced by Josh Gad (“Marshall,” “Book of Mormon”); Anna, voiced by Kristen Bell (“Frozen,” “Bad Moms”); Elsa, voiced by Idina Menzel (Broadway’s “Wicked,” “Rent” and “If/Then”; Fox’s “Glee”); and Kristoff, voiced by Jonathan Groff (Broadway’s “Hamilton,” Netflix’s “Mindhunter”).
InOLAF’S FROZEN ADVENTURE, Olaf teams up with Sven on a merry mission. It’s the first holiday season since the gates reopened and Anna and Elsa host a celebration for all of Arendelle. When the townspeople unexpectedly leave early to enjoy their individual holiday customs, the sisters realize they have no family traditions of their own. So, Olaf sets out to comb the kingdom to bring home the best traditions and save Anna and Elsa’s “first Christmas in forever.”
