Disney has taken a decidedly bigger approach to Halloween Time at Disney California Adventure this year with new decorations in both Buena Vista Street and Cars Land as well as a spooky layover on the new Guardians of the Galaxy attraction. There’s also a fantastic new Plaza de la Familia celebrating Dia de los Muertos and the upcoming Disney-Pixar feature COCO. Of course, an expected array of treats, eats, and sweets can be found around the parks, as well. Take a look!
Radiator Screams Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween
Cars Land has undertaken its first-ever Halloween transformation with the new Haul-O-Ween takeover that’s occurring now at Disney California Adventure as part of the Halloween Time celebration at the Disneyland Resort. We got a taste of the expansive takeover of the new land which includes new treats (visual and edible) throughout the entire land!

Plaza de la Familia
We’re just a few months away from the theatrical release of Disney-Pixar’s COCO and just a few weeks away from “Dia de los Muertos” but there’s a lot in store to celebrate the festive holiday and the upcoming animated feature. At Disney California Adventure, the “Dia de los Muertos” celebrations have been dialed up over previous years with new entertainment and food options.

Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark
In the day time you can still experience the regular MISSION: BREAKOUT! version of the attraction. But after 6 PM, things get spooky. The storyline for the new adventure picks up just moments after the events of Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!.
While escaping The Collector’s Fortress, the Guardians have accidentally left Groot behind, so Rocket needs your help to find and rescue his little buddy. But along with the creatures that have been accidentally released inside The Collector’s Fortress, one terrifying monster you will encounter is Surtur’s Fire Dragon.
The attraction has an awesome new lighting sequence on its facade.
The lobby is very red now that the Monsters are on the loose. The welcome video glitches out and cuts to poor Apheta trying to maintain order and calm.
Even the on-ride photo gets a layover for the attraction.

Buena Vista Street
As great as this looks at night, it just doesn’t read very well in the day light.
The Headless Horseman statue can be seen breathing firey smoke at night with spooky noises abound.
The whole area gets spooky music and lighting.
