Following a splashy fireworks kickoff Tuesday evening, Six Flags Magic Mountain opened up their new signature attraction: Justice League: Battle for Metropolis. The first dark ride of its kind for the “thrill capital of the world,” the new attraction takes a novel approach to raising their own bar by bringing an immersive attraction complete with animatronic figures, projection screens, 3D glasses, interactive blasters, and more.

Picture Transformers: The Ride attraction at Universal Studios or the The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man at Universal Islands of Adventure, and you’ll get the idea of hybrid use of show scenes plus projected screens to create the ride experience. The attraction is plussed a bit with show scenes that include animatronic figures (including the awesome Joker figure who blasts us with his laughing gas) plus a few henchman who attempt to bring down a real set piece down on the vehicle, and a surprise appearance by Harley Quinn at the very end.

The attraction also steps it up a level by introducing blasters into the mix. Some of the Justice League supers have been captured by the Joker and Lex Luthor and it’s our job to blast up the baddies and save not just the heroes but also Metropolis!

If Six Flags is looking to broaden its focus once more at Magic Moutain to target not just thrill seekers but also broader families at large attractions, then like this are certainly the right way to go. The park has certainly seen better days so this is the perfect shot in the arm to help change perception of the park. But there’s certainly a long way to go. While Justice League: Battle for Metropolis might not necessarily be the sole reason to visit the park, it’s certainly a much needed booster to the offerings and certainly worth a shot.

Justice League: Battle for Metropolis is open now at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

But Wait, There’s More!

We’ll have more to enjoy from the attraction and its grand opening ceremony but for now enjoy a few of our social media postings!
