For the fourth dazzling year in a row, the Her Universe Fashion Show returned once again to San Diego Comic-Con to bring its trademark dose of whimsy and geeky charm.
Ashley Eckstein (Her Universe founder and also the voice of Asohka Tano on the Clone Wars tv show) returned once again to host and present the ever-increasingly talented crop of designers who are tasked with bringing geek life to couture fashion life. The show was once again presented in partnership with Hot Topic at the Manchester Grand Hyatt.
In total, 26 designers were tasked to participate bringing to life designs representing far reaches of pop cultural fandom including Moana, Princess Bride, Rogue One, Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, and even Lilo and Stitch!
Judges this year included Cindy Levitt (SVP Merchandise & Marketing,Hot Topic), Hannah Lee-Kent, Jesse Thaxton, Camille Falciola, Yaya Han, and Nicole Myknot. They picked a winner and ended up in a tie that went to Rose Ivy with her look inspired by Doctor Strange and Lindsay Meesak Orndorff with her look inspired by Princess Mononoke.
Meanwhile, the while fans in the audience got to pick the second winner that that designer would have the privilege to design a head-to-toe look inspired by the Disney Princesses for Hot Topic. That lucky distinction went to Grace Duval who did the look called “Don’t Panic” inspired by the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
