Sinners

RATING: 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃

REVIEW: This maze was terrible. I lied to you, yes I lied to you, I love Sinners. We were really expecting this to be our favorite of the night and it looks like we were right. This one lived up to our expectations. The creep factor, the scares, the sets, the immersion of being in the movie,  everything about this experience was in perfect harmony. If you love the movie you’re going to love this maze.

SYNOPSIS: In 1930s Mississippi, libations flow freely and guitar screams fill the air at the Smokestack Twins’ juke joint. But the blues become red when Remmick’s troop of bloodthirsty vampires crash the party — and test blood’s true bonds — as you brave this terrifying haunted house based on the award-winning original horror film, “Sinners.”

Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness

RATING: 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃

REVIEW: As a tribute to the prince of darkness, this maze is absolutely a stunner. This could have easily gone off the rails but this crazy train was a lot of fun with some great scares and some fun visuals inspired by the music and legacy of Ozzy Osbourne.

SYNOPSIS: Ozzy Osbourne’s shocking image was as haunting as his heavy metal hits. Now you’ll enter the Prince of Darkness’s kingdom where music and mayhem collide — and everything’s gone off the rails. Veer through a decaying world ripped straight from Ozzy’s lyrics in this haunted house inspired by one of rock ‘n’ roll’s greatest legends. Let the madness begin!

Hellraiser

RATING: 🎃🎃🎃🎃⚫

REVIEW: We were really not expecting to like this one as much as we did. The maze comes really close to delivering on the absolute disgusting horror of the film but thankfully(?) it doesn’t quite meet the level. Still, this is an absolutely horrifying walkthrough with smells to match.

SYNOPSIS: Enter a realm of pure pain in a haunted house based on the original “Hellraiser” trilogy. You’ll journey through the depths of Hell and bear witness to Pinhead and the Cenobites’ nightmarish rituals. Then hope you don’t get trapped in your own.

Dead, Deader, Deadest

RATING: 🎃🎃🎃⚫⚫

REVIEW: This might have been the scariest maze of the night for us and we were not expecting that at all. This is a sequel maze to the lore established in the 2022 Universal Horror Hotel. Not being based off a movie, the setup is easy to follow along… funeral home, bright green embalming fluid, the dead rise again.

SYNOPSIS: Ambrotox claims to restore the deceased’s features without the process of embalming. But when the miracle drug backfires, a century’s worth of corpses rise from their graves dead set on terrorizing the living. In this haunted house, stare death in its decaying face and unearth the dark secrets that lie within the Deville Family Funeral Home.

Terror Tram Starring Art the Clown

RATING: 🎃🎃🎃⚫⚫

REVIEW: This felt like one of the stronger Terror Trams for us, maybe partially fueled by the fact that Art the Clown is such a fun character. The general formula of Terror Tram hasn’t really changed much, especially in comparison to last year’s Blumhouse setup which started with some horror vignettes, leads into the chaos at the Bates Motel before cycling past Psycho House and into the War of the Worlds. Still, the campy terror here felt right.

SYNOPSIS: Art the Clown arrives on the Universal Studios Backlot with his blood-soaked bag of presents in tow. But when he realizes he’s too early for Christmas, he hijacks the Terror Tram to start a ho-ho-horrific holiday tradition all his own. Encounter shocking twists on Christmas classics and remember: the best gift is the screams you have along the way.

Stranger Things 5

RATING: 🎃🎃⚫⚫⚫

REVIEW: Every iteration of Stranger Things mazes have always been fairly underwhelming for us, there’s just a special magic in the show that the mazes just don’t quite pick up on. Still, there’s some really great callbacks to the final season including a great bit with Karen Wheeler facing off with a Demogorgon. Bad? No. Decent.

SYNOPSIS: The Upside Down is invading Hawkins, and this time no one’s safe. In this haunted house based on the final season of “Stranger Things,” join the gang in Hawkins for one last adventure as you try to survive Demogorgons and the Mind Flayer. Will you defeat Vecna once and for all?

KILLceañera: Music by Slash

RATING: 🎃🎃⚫⚫⚫

REVIEW: We wanted to love this SO much more but were fairly disappointed. This is not a bad maze by any means but with a name like KILLceañera we thought that there would be some really fun opportunities to build on that grand party vibe of a familiar quinceanera but instead it felt mostly like a rehash of previous Latin American horrors mazes. There is a great backstory here though and it does carry through well.

SYNOPSIS: In this haunted house featuring music by Slash, you’re invited to Lola’s quinceañera — where she’s summoned vengeful ghosts and malevolent spirits to help exact her monstrous revenge on school bullies. Face legendary creatures from Latin American folklore as they help Lola snuff out her birthday candles one by one.

Evil Dead Burn

RATING: 🎃⚫⚫⚫⚫

REVIEW: We didn’t love last year’s maze from the EVIL DEAD franchise and this year was no different. There’s great sets and creepy creeps here but the scares didn’t land for us. Let it burn.

SYNOPSIS: The Book of the Dead has been reopened, and now an infernal force consumes a family home. In this haunted house based on the new film, “Evil Dead Burn,” dodge possessed Deadites hell-bent on bloodshed — and encounter not just the root of evil, but the whole family tree.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space

RATING: 🎃⚫⚫⚫⚫

REVIEW: We actually ran out of time on opening night and opted to skip this one since it’s virtually identical to its incarnations in 2019 and 2022. In both of those years, we gave this a 3/5 rating and while that should still stand, this is also a re-run we weren’t sad to miss for a third time. Even Killer Klowns need to change up their act once in a while.

SYNOPSIS: If ever there’s a reason to be afraid of Klowns, this is it. The Killer Klowns from Outer Space have landed in this haunted house. And the joke’s on you if you get trapped in their cotton candy cocoons — becoming a gooey, gruesome snack.

Halloween Horror Nights returns this year to Universal Studios Hollywood (Thursday, September 3, 2026) and to Universal Studios Florida (Friday, August 28, 2026) and both events run select nights through Sunday, November 1, 2026.
