HOPPERS is ready to jump in for a wildly fun adventure at home. In this animated comedy adventure, animal lover Mabel seizes an opportunity to use a new technology to ‘hop’ her consciousness into a lifelike robotic beaver and communicate directly with animals. With a hosted review copy of the film, we took a look at the exclusive bonus content including deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes featurettes.

The film was first available for purchase in Digital on April 28 and is now available in 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD starting June 2. We are sharing our honest thoughts here but it’s important to note that MouseInfo is an Amazon Affiliate so qualifying purchases made from this page may be eligible for commission.

The digital and physical home release promise several bonus features including a behind-the-scenes look with director Daniel Chong and the filmmakers exploring Yellowstone National Park, creative efforts behind the animal Superlodge, recording booth outtakes, deleted scenes, and insight into Pixar’s Easter Eggs. The 4K UHD is also available in a collectible limited edition SteelBook package highlighting the film’s animal characters.

This home release features a small but truly mighty set of extras. The standouts for me on this release from the House of the Lamp is actually the Deleted Scenes. More than just a bunch of storyboard videos chopped together and thrown into a gallery, we get really great, insightful notes from director Daniel Chong and editor Axel Geddes introducing each clip with context into where and why it fit and then didnt fit into the story. It’s always great to see those moments of filmmakers making the magic. To that end, there’s also the 11-minute Hopping In: The Making of Hoppers which takes a fun although fairly surface level look at the process of bringing together the cast, crew, story, and animation into the final project. The 10-minute Critter Diaries got into a little bit more of those meaty bits while the “Meet King George” Scene Breakdown was a fun peek into the process of bringing to life the world of the beavers and specifically King George’s Superlodge. The most fun piece was the kid-oriented Beaverton Revealed which takes a peek at all the fun cameos, hidden references, and behind-the-scenes fun facts.
