ESPN and Disney Jr. have teamed up for the second consecutive year to expand youth sports access for preschoolers and promote healthy, active play. The initiative collaborates with Every Kid Sports to provide registration fee grants for families, expanding its local sports clinics into multiple new U.S. markets. Additionally, a new shorts collection titled ME & MICKEY: LET’S PLAY SPORTS will debut to teach kids foundational athletic skills and teamwork.

Here’s a look at the latest info you need to know about Disney Jr. Let’s Play! and Me & Mickey: Let’s Play Sports.

The preschool-focused initiative from ESPN’s “Take Back Sports” and “Disney Jr. Let’s Play!” is collaborating with national nonprofit Every Kid Sports to provide grants that help income-restricted families cover youth sports registration fees for children ages 3-7. Last year, the program provided grants to more than 1,200 families across eight U.S. cities, covering 22 different sports. Half of the participating families noted it was their child’s first time playing a sport. The initiative also hosted an inaugural free sports clinic in East Los Angeles last fall for more than 70 preschoolers and kindergarteners.

This year, the program expands to include preschool sports clinics in select markets, including Oakland, Chicago, Fresno, Los Angeles/Inland Empire, and Philadelphia. These events introduce young children to multiple sports and connect families directly to local youth sports resources. Registrations for the grants, fulfilled through the fall 2026 Every Kid Sports Pass, are open for qualifying families in Los Angeles, Fresno, San Francisco, Houston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Raleigh-Durham, and New York. Families can learn more at everykidsports.org/letsplaysports. A new campaign PSA narrated by ESPN senior writer and college football insider Heather Dinich is also available on Disney Jr.’s Instagram.

The initiative also features a new programming collection designed to inspire an early love of sports, active play, and teamwork. ME & MICKEY: LET’S PLAY SPORTS, a collaboration between Disney Jr., ESPN, and Positive Coaching Alliance, debuts Monday, June 29, on Disney Plus, Disney Jr. at 6:25 AM EDT/PDT, and Disney Jr. On Demand. An extension of the popular “Me & Mickey” vlog series, the 10-short collection features Mickey, Minnie, and the gang introducing kids to preschool-friendly sports techniques like kicking a soccer ball and playing catch.
