Mickey and Minnie are greeting guests in their original outfits from the opening day of Disney California Adventure for a limited time as part of the Magic Key Disney California Adventure Park 25th Anniversary Celebration Event. As previously announced, this Magic Key member-exclusive offering also features photo-ops and a complimentary keepsake magnet postcard set available from from February 5-15, 2026.

Here’s a look at what we experienced during the Magic Key Disney California Adventure Park 25th Anniversary Celebration Event.

What We Experienced

IMG_1363 HEICThere’s not a whole lot to this offering but it’s a nice little perk for a bit of a nostalgic rewind to 2001 when Disney California Adventure first opened its gates. This event has a retro nostalgic vibe with the photo-ops, character greets, and complimentary keepsake magnet postcard set that you can get here.

As to be expected, there will be lines. A virtual queue is required for entrance and then there will be lines for each offering inside the event which you can learn more about below.

This offering is available most days from February 5th through the 15th and is only available for limited hours each day.

 

Mickey and Minnie

Wearing their adorable outfits as California tourists, Mickey and Minnie are ready for a hug and a selfie in front of a giant recreation of the opening day map of the park. These outfits were worn by the characters for several years from opening day on February 8, 2001. Unfortunately, Mickey and Minnie do not typically greet here together so you’ll have to wait in line twice if you want to see each character. The lines here can also get quite long, spanning upwards of an hour or more.

Unfortunately, as of press time, their appearance times are also not listed in the app so you will have to ask Guest Services or a Cast Member at the location for details.

Magnet Postcard Set

This adorable magnet set features post card designs using current DCA stories but as homages to previous DCA adventures. The three designs include:

  • Joy and Sadness from INSIDE OUT loosely recreate the iconic Coppertone billboard ad that was seen for years in Paradise Pier before it became Pixar Pier complete with the giant iconic sun graphic shining down on them.
  • Spider-Bots from the WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure attraction utilizing their burger-like appearance as an homage to the former Burger Invasion restaurant with a heading that reads “Spider-Bot Invasion.” This particular design is a loose homage to the billboard that also appeared in Paradise Pier when the restaurant was sponsored by McDonald’s
  • Mickey and Minnie feature on a less obvious design that possibly pays homage to a former Victorian seaside billboard in Paradise Pier that promoted Coca-Cola.

Photo-Ops

Aside from taking pictures with Mickey and Minnie at their fun map backdrop, there are two additional backdrops including one that is an homage to the original post-card entrance for Disney California Adventure complete with Golden Gate Bridge and the CALIFORNIA letters. There’s also the standard colorful blocky design featuring Disneyland and Magic Key logos. Lines build for the photo-ops as well but not nearly as long as the lines for Mickey and Minnie.

How to Participate

A virtual queue will be in place for this Magic Key event; Magic Key passholders will need to join the virtual queue in the Disneyland app.
